Oracle Arena, Oakland -- A deflated and undersized Golden State Warriors (23-14 ) were overmatched by the defending champions Miami Heat Wednesday night at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
Lebron James (28 years, 17 days) became the youngest player ever in NBA history to reach 20,000 points and 5,000 assists, making him the most versatile forward in the game today. James recorded his 20,000th point on a jump shot with 2:45 minutes left to play in the second quarter. He is the 38th player ever to score 20,000 under the age of 30 joining Kobe Brant, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.
Stephen Curry's absence on the floor tonight was too much for the young Warriors to overcome. Miami Heat (25-12) was able to pressure the point guard Jarrett Jack who earned his first starting assignment of the season in place of the injured Stephen Curry (right ankle sprain) who missed his first game this year. Jarrett Jack led the Warriors with 16 points in just under 30 minutes of action. David Lee added 12 points and 11 rebounds, his 24th double- double of the year, second most in the League this year in a disappointing loss.
Miami Heat's balanced attack and suffocating defense forced the Warriors to commit 21 turnovers in the game. Lebron paced the Heat with 25 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds. Four starters from the Heat logged in double figures in scoring as Wade posted a fantastic all around effort with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Mario Chalmers contributed 15 points along with Chris Bosh's 11.
The Golden State Warriors are hoping to have Stephen Curry on the floor when they face the San Antonio Spurs in their next game. Meanwhile the Heat heads South to battle the Los Angeles Lakers tomorrow night at Staples Center. (JSM)
