WBC PRESIDENT SULAIMAN PLEASED OVER PACQUIAO'S DEFAMATION CASE AGREEMENT
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 28 Sep 2012
World Boxing Council president Don Jose Sulaiman is pleased over Manny Pacquiao's defamation case agreement with Floyd Mayweather Jr, his father Floyd Mayweather Sr and Mayweather Promotions.
Sulaiman told the Manila Standard who informed him about the settlement "That's nice. Thanks. Now let us wait for the fight."
Some months ago the WBC president offered to help both Pacquiao and Mayweather in trying to reach an agreement to fight in each in what is certain to be a record-shattering event, saying he had good relations with both fighters.
Pacquiao has made several concessions in an effort to entice Mayweather to enter the ring against him including his readinwess to undergo random drug testing as demanded by Mayweather and to eve take a 45 percent revenue cut as against Mayweather's 55 percent.
He also offered to let the undefeated Mayweather enjoy top billing in all promotions and fight night activites.
However, Pacquiao's adviser Michael Koncz who has been in contact with Mayweather in the past said he believes Mayweather, for whatever reason, doesn't want to face Pacquiao in the ring..
Although details of the settlement involving the defamation lawsuit filed by Pacquiao remain confidential, Pacquiao himself is satisfied that the litigation has ended.
Pacquiao?s top-notch lawyer David Marroso told the Manila Standard ?Manny is pleased with the agreement (and now) he?ll be able to foscus on his boxing career, his congressional duties, charitable activities and other pursuits.?
Atty. Marroso also paid tribute to retired Judge Daniel Weinsteing who, he said, ?was instrumental in getting the matter resolved.?
Koncz said ?we don?t have any litigation but I don?t know whether that makes Mayweather feel better? and would help move talks on a possible Pacquiao-Mayweather fight sometime in the first half of next year.
