LOPEZ WON?T LEAVE THE RESULT OF HIS FIGHT WITH ORTIZ IN THE JUDGES HANDS

PhilBoxing.com

Joselito Lopez.
Joselito Lopez, taking a lesson from what happened to boxing icon Manny Pacquiao when he lost his WBO welterweight title to Timothy Bradley in a split decision that was condemned around the world last June 9, has made it clear he won?t leave the result of his fight with Victor ?Vicious? Ortiz at the Staples Center on Sunday, Manila Time, in the hands of the judges.

The 27 year old Lopez who has a record of 29-4 with 17 knockouts replaced Andre Berto who tested positive for a banned substance and welcomes what he refers to as a ?once in a lifetime opportunity? which he plans to take advantage of.

The Golden Boy Promotions fight card from the famed Staples Center in Los Angeles will be telecast on the increasingly watched weekly boxing show ?Big Time Bakbakan? over Active Television, AKTV IBC 13 beginning at 12:00 noon.

Lopez said ?people who have seen me fight know I am tough and I leave it all in the ring. Once you see me fight you?ll fall in love with my style. I plan to win over some of Victor (Ortiz) fans on June 23.?

Lopez who dropped a ten round split decision to the highly fancied, undefeated Jessie Vargas on the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather Jr ? Ortiz fight last September 17 which ended in Mayweather winning by a 4th round knockout in a bizarre ending said, ?Its no secret that Victor has a weak chin and I plan to exploit it.?

He added, I?ll be looking for the knockout if not I know I?ll need to win 10 out of the 12 rounds rto walk out of there a champion. I can?t leave it in the judges hands.?

Lopez said ?I?m aggressive, I like to bang, I like to come forward and put the pressure on my opponents.?

Ortiz, the 25 year old southpaw with a record of 29-3-2 with 22 knockouts knows he can?t take Lopez lightly in their battle for the vacant WBC welterweight silver title.

Ortiz said he is not taking anyone for granted and knows that Joselito (Lopez) is a great fighter. We share one thing in common and that?s a lot of heart. Its going to be a great night. He?s ready to fight and that makes two of us. Lopez is a warrior and I know he?ll come to fight.
