COMPLETE UNDERCARD RESULTS OF ADAMEK-CHAMBERS IN NEWARK

Newark, NJ- The Brick City hosts NBC Network?s and Main Events Promotions quarterly boxing show at the Prudential Center Arena here in downtown Newark. The show which aired live on NBC?s Fight Night series drew a predominantly Polish crowd who are here to support Poland?s most popular boxer in Thomasz Adamek who battles American heavyweight Eddie Chambers in the main event. Here are the results of the undercards of tonight?s fight.

JOHNSON vs. YONG

The night opened with a six round Middleweight fight featuring Tureano Johnson 8-0 (6 KOs) of Nassau, Bahamas and Sacramento, California?s Roberto Yong 5-4-1 (4 KOs). The game Yong put up a great fight against the unbeaten Johnson but the native of Bahamas showed consistency throughout the six round battle to carve out a Unanimous Decision win here in New Jersey. Johnson remained undefeated with three identical scores of 58-56 on all of the judges? at ringside.

PERALTA vs. KING

The state?s first entry of the night pulled out an impressive win in front of a Jersey crowd that trooped to this city for tonight?s festivities. Jose Peralta 8-1 (4 KOs) of Jersey, City NJ knocked out Dontre King 6-10-2 (2 KOs) of Cambridge, MD. Peralta who was the faster, stronger fighter of the two started strong early in the night. Peralta used fast combinations on King who was knocked down in the 3rd round of the bout. King would get knocked down again in the next round by the way of a strong left that landed squarely on his face. King would try to get up but referee Edward Cotton saw him struggle on his way up and halted the fight instantly. The time of the stoppage was 2:28 of the 4th round.

FARREL vs. WILLIAMS

The third bout of the night featured a good heavyweight scrap between Patrick Farrell of nearby Jersey City 6-1-1 (3KO) and David Williams 6-5-1 (2 KOs) of Philadelphia, PA. Action started early for both fighters with Farrell landing the early blows. He staggered Williams with a large left hook on the initial round. Williams had a huge counter after Farrell missed on one of his shots which stunned the local fighter.
Farrell flattened Williams in the 2ndwith another huge shot but the Philly fighter recovered and finished the round on his feet. Both fighters engaged in a bruising battle in the last two rounds of the fight to give the early crowd here at the arena a fight that they appreciated.
Farrell wins in the judges? cards with scores of 39-36 and 40-35 twice.

THOMPSON vs. MACKEY

Newark?s own John Thompson 7-0 (2 KOs) scored one for the host city by outpointing John Mackey 13-6-3 (6 KOs) of Washington, DC. Thompson builds an early lead in the judges? cards in the six round Middleweight bout. Mackey desperately tried to mount an offensive on the last two rounds but was unable to surpass his opponent?s lead. Thompson wins it with scores of 58-56 and 59-55 twice.

JENNINGS vs. COLLINS

Unbeaten American Heavyweight Bryant Jennings 13-0 (6 KOs) of Philadelphia, PA opened NBC Network?s show against Steve Collins 25-1 (18 KOs) of Houston, TX. After a tentative round, Jennings jumped into action in the 4th with a blistering combo that pushed Collins backwards. The ropes caught the Texan but referee Lindsey Page gave him a standing 8 count. Collins took the count and finished the round despite being under fire from Jennings who pummeled him after the count.

Jennings dominated his fellow American through the rest of the night with big punches scattered throughout the rounds. But Collins held up to Jennings?s assault enabling him to finish the fight on his feet. Jennings won unanimously with a perfect score of 100 to Collins? 89 on all three judges at ringside. Jennings picked up the vacant USBA title with the victory tonight.

CARRASQUILLO vs. DAVIS

Jamaal Davis 13-8-1 (6 KOs) of Philadelphia, PA figured in an eight round duel against Doel Carrasquillo 16-19-1 (14 KOs) of Lancaster, PA. Davis used effective jabbing and good ring mobility against his fellow Pennsylvanian fighter. Davis who has famed Philly trainer Nazim Richardson in his corner outpointed Carrasquillo in all of the score cards at ringside. The scores were 79-73 and two scores of 78-74 all for Davis.
