JUDGE KO?S MAYWEATHER HOUSE ARREST MOTION
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Thu, 14 Jun 2012
 Judge Melissa Saragosa.
Floyd Mayweather Jr?s motion for house arrest instead of spending the remainder of his 90-day sentence in the Clark County Detention Center has been knocked out by Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa.
Saragosa who came under fire when she postponed the date on which Mayweather was to serve his sentence in order to accommodate a May 5 fight against Miguel Cotto rejected the claim by Mayweather?s lawyer Richard Wright that the boxer is experiencing physical deterioration caused by "inhumane" conditions at the Clark County Detention Center and that he was dehydrated, losing weight and unable to continue his physical training.
Judge Saragosa ruled ?the alleged dehydration of the Defendant to be self-induced as water is made available to him twenty-four hours a day" and that "The Court further finds the estimated intake of only 800 calories per day is also self-induced as Defendant chooses not to eat the food provided."
Referring to Mayweather?s opportunity to exercise while in prison, Justice Saragosa noted that ?while the physical training areas and times provided to the Defendant may not be consistent with his prior regimen, he is indeed provided sufficient space and time for physical activity if he so chooses."
Mayweather had pleaded guilty last December to domestic battery charges and did not contest two counts of harassment, all misdemeanors, for assaulting the mother of three of his children and threatening his two sons.
Atty. Wright had said during oral arguments that he was ?not looking for special treatment for Floyd Mayweather. I'm looking for fair treatment."
Unless something dramatic takes place Mayweather will remain in prison until August 3.
