Garcia arrived in Manila on Monday ?ready to clean his name and that of Mexican boxing? according to the World Boxing Council. The talented ?Poblanito? Garcia who arrived along with fellow Mexican Felipe Salguero who battles WBO light flyweight champion Donnie Nietes at the Resorts World Hotel in Manila on Saturday wanted to clear his name after the shameful incident in which a ?fake? Garcia used his credentials and was stopped in two rounds by featherweight Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista in a farcical fight before some 40,000 fans in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. The WBC said ALA Promnotions, the leading promotional outfit in the Philippines ?chose Genaro Garcia to face one of the prospects to fill the spot that soon will leave Many Pacquiao as the best Philippine fighter.? Garcia said ?The Philippines is making another mistake; they think that I will be like the ?other? Poblanito Garcia, (who was sent to canvas in the second round) but they?re wrong. I feel much stronger than ever, I will knock this 'chamaco' out.? Garcia?s tough talk was supported by his trainer Roberto Lopez who said ?I?ve never seen Genaro in such great shape. He?s motivated to come here to Philippine to face an undefeated boxer, he?s very anxious to fight.? ?Poblanito? Garcia added ?He (Servania) won?t know how to handle my attacks, nobody can, I fought in Mexico City against very strong fighters, against very talented youngsters and I beat them all down. I?m motivated because I know that if I win I will get a higher ranking which will put me closer to what I want, a fight against Abner Mares.? Garcia went on ?I will show them who the ?Poblanito? is, I was the number one bantamweight in the world, I even was dodged by several champions. I will show this people why I have defeated 5 world champions.? Click here to view a list of other articles written by Ronnie Nathanielsz. ![]() |
