PhilBoxing.com

The Philippines Marjohn Yap was ?unlucky not to win? according to the South African matchmaker Siyolo Dabula after the ALA Promotions fighter lost a questionable a ten round decision against South Africa?s super flyweight champion Miniyakhe Sithyatha at the Orient Theater in East London, South Africa on Sunday.

The fight was promoted by XABA Boxing Promotions.

In an email to ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer, Dabula said he had spoken to Sithyatha?s trainer after the fight and was told that the South African ?was in trouble many times in the fight and one person I spoke to said Yap was unlucky not to win.?

He said ?I?m glad you gave us a quality boxer and I hope our relationship will grow from strength to strength.?

With the questionable win the 21-year-old Sithyatha who was facing his first foreign opponent improved his record to 14-2 with 7 knockouts while Yap dropped to 16-8 with 9 olnockouts..

Sithyatha won the Eastern Cape junior bantamweight title with an impressive seventh-round technical knockout over Mangaliso Dyanti in December 2010 and on April 2 last year won the SA junior bantamweight title by stopping Unathi Gqokoma in the tenth round He retained the title with a 9th round TKO over Thembelani Maphuma last December 11 after winning the SA super flyweight title with a 10th round TKO over Unathi Gqokoma on April 2, 2011.

Before the fight Sithyatha said a troublesome knee was a minor distraction in his preparation for the fight against Yap.

Sityatha, who turns 22 on June 19, was confident of notching yet another victory despite preparations for the shootout being hampered by a sore right knee. He said "My right knee is giving me some problems, but that's nothing because this is not the first time that this has happened to me before a fight. I'm very happy to say that my preparations for this fight have gone very well despite the knee problem."

Sithyatha said he had met Yap after he arrived in East London on Tuesday and added ? I have figured out how to beat him. I'm confident that I will win on Saturday and will see what will happen after that."
