MARJOHN YAP BATTLES SOUTH AFRICAN SUPER FLYWEIGHT CHAMPION ON SUNDAY

The Philippines Marjohn Yap battles South Africa?s super flyweight champion Miniyakhe Sithyatha in a ten round bout at the Orient Theater in East London, South Africa on Sunday.
It will be the 21-year-old South African?s first international bout.
Sithyatha has a record of 13-2, including 7 knockouts while the 23-year-old Yap has a record of 16-7; 9.
Sithyatha made his pro debut in July 2008 when he stopped Thobela Folo in the first round. After winning his next six fights Sithyatha faced Themba Joyi for the South African bantamweight title and lost a twelve round split decision on August 28, 2009.
He won the Eastern Cape junior bantamweight title with an impressive seventh-round technical knockout over Mangaliso Dyanti in December 2010 and on April 2 last year won the SA junior bantamweight title by stopping Unathi Gqokoma in the tenth round.
Sithyatha retained the title with a 9th round TKO over Thembelani Maphuma last December 11 after winning the SA super flyweight title with a 10th round TKO over Unathi Gqokoma on April 2, 2011.
The 23-year-old Yap who fights out of the ALA Gym is coming off a 3rd round TKO victory over Paul Apolinario last December 19 after losing an eight round decision to Ronnie Apilado on August 27, 2011.
Yap also scored a 3rd round TKO win over Gedeon Amba on June 2, 2011 after dropping an eight round decision to Kenichi Yamaguchi on March 19, 2011.
He is trained by youthful Joseph Baldago.
