Undefeated and defending Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation mini-flyweight champion Merlito ?Tiger? Sabillo leads the cast of Negrense fighters seeing action in the forthcoming ALA Promotions? boxing spectacular ?Pride of Negros? set May 4 at the La Proa Ballroom of L? Fisher Hotel n Bacolod City. Among other Negrenses fighting in the undercard are Escalante City-born Melvin ?Vinz? Gumban, Bacole?o Juren Labordo and Rey Morales of Himamaylan City. The Toboso-native Sabillo (17 wins, 7 KOs) will be defending his belt against the 18-year-old challenger Jonathan Refugio from Malaybalay, Bukidnon in the scheduled 12-rounds battle. In an interview with the 28-year-old Sabillo, he said that he is very much ready for the upcoming. Much more that his first title defense will be held before his hometown supporters here in Bacolod. ?I have been training hard to ensure that I am fit during the fight. I don?t want to fail my fellow Negrenses,? the champion Sabillo said. After he dominated Rodel Tejares Singwancha for the vacant OPBF mini-flyweight belt in October of last year, Sabillo, likewise, prevailed over Indonesian Sofyan Effendi last January in an 8-round brawl of the Pinoy Pride XI held at the Cebu City Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Lahug, Cebu. Llanos of Davao City in the undercard match. Other featured undercard matches include Top Prime Stable Louie Arlos takes pride against Tagbilaran City?s Lito Dante in a 6-round fight at 108 pounds; while erstwhile Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines national age-group champion 16-year old Bacole?o Juren Labordo, who will be going up against another Davaeno Anastacio Gallardo in a 4-round battle in the 112 pounds; and former amateur boxer Rey Morales of Himamaylan City takes Bukidnon?s Kheriel Gonlibo in another 4-rounder at 112 pounds.
