WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO GOING FOR 50TH KO VICTORY

PhilBoxing.com

Wladimir Klitschko.
IBF,IBO,WBA and IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko is going for his 50th knockout victory when he defends his titles against Frenchman Jean-Marc ?Mini Tyson? Mormeck in Dusseldorf, Germany on Sunday, Manila Time.

The fight will be telecast on the widely followed ?BIG TIME BAKBAKAN? on AKTV IBC 13 at 12:00 noon on Sunday.

Wladimir?s brother, Vitali Klitschko had a comparatively easy time in successfully defending his WBC title against Britain?s Dereck Chisora earlier this month also in Germany where the brothers from the Ukraine are based.

Wladimir says he?s ?ready for the challenge? adding ?I still have hunger and do not take this fight lightly.?

Referring to Mormeck, Klitschko said ?When you see how he talks, looks and moves ? it shows he has the will and determination to become the first world heavyweight champion from France."

Klitschko who is 35 years old believes that Mormeck won?t be a pushover even though Klitschko is almost 7 inches taller than the Frenchman.

In fact Wladimir said it is ? extremely difficult to box against a man who is a lot shorter. It does not make my job easier."

Klitschko has an impressive record of 56 wins against only 3 defeats with 49 wins coming by way of knockouts and is aiming to make the 39 year old former world cruiserweight champion his 50th KO victim.

But Mormeck doesn?t fear the giant Ukranian. He said "I have an iron will and I am tough. I fear no one and that is my mental strength" even as he posed the question. "Does he (Wladimir) have that as well?"

The press conference of Wladimir Klitschko and Mormeck had none of the ugliness of the build up to the Vitali K;itschkop-Chisora title where the Brit slapped Klitschko at the weigh in and was fined $50,000 by the World Boxing Council.

Its been almost eight years since Wladimir Klitschko has been beaten. His last defeat was a 5th round TKO to Americam heavyweight Lamon Brewster in Las Vegas in April 2004.

For Mormeck the battle with Klitschko will be only his fourth fight as a heavyweight. He lost by a 7th round TKO in a cruiserweight clash with Britain?s David Haye in 2007. Haye later went on to win the heavyweight title in 2009 when he beat Nikolay Valuev but lost the title to Wladimir Klitschko in 2011.

Mormeck has a record of 36-4 with 22 knockouts.
