BOOM BOOM BAUTISTA TO FACE DANGEROUS VETERAN GENARO GARCIA IN BOHOL

PhilBoxing.com

Rey 'Boom-Boom' Bautista.

Reigning IBF International Featherwight Champion and IBF world rated number 5 Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista is scheduled to face dangerous Mexican veteran Genaro Garcia on March 3, 2012 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

It will be the first time in more than 7 years for Bautista to be fighting in his home province when he meets the Mexican ?Poblanito? Garcia in the ring. The two will be squaring off in the main event of PINOY PRIDE 12: BAKBAKAN SA BOHOL brought to you by ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports.

This much-awaited fight between Bautista and Garcia promises to add more fire to the ongoing Philippines vs Mexico rivalry as both fighters are coming off from impressive wins during their last outings with Bautista ending Miguel Angel Mendoza?s 17 wins 17 KO?s run last December and Garcia knocking out namesake Genaro Camargo in the 6th round during his last fight this year.

Garcia will be no walk in the park for Boom Boom as he has fought the best names in the divisions he campaigned at. The ?Pablonito? form Mexico has beaten IBF Bantamweight and WBC Super Bantamweight Champion Rafael Marquez and title contender Miguel Roman and has faced world champions Toshiaki Nishioka, Hozumi Hasegawa, Luis Alberto Perez and Wilfredo Vasquez, Jr.

Bautista, on the other hand has been busy winning on the comeback trail after nagging injuries in the past two years. The Boholano banger has racked up six wins knocking out 5 of his last 6 opponents in less than 7 rounds with only one fight ending in a technical decision over former conqueror Heriberto Ruiz of Mexico. Boom Boom is now in contention for the IBF Featherweight world title as he is at present number 5 in his division.

PINOY PRIDE 12: BAKBAKAN SA BOHOL will also be featuring the quick and sharp fighting styles of rising star Genesis ?Azukal? Servania who will be facing another veteran fighter in African Nick Otieno, the comeback fight of the young Jason Pagara who will be fighting Indonesias Frans Yarangga, Michael Domingo and a cast of hungry young guns of boxing.

Tickets are available at the Tagbilaran City Square, Alona Kew White Beach, Islands Souvenirs Shops in Bohol and selected pharmacies in Bohol. For Ticket inquiries you can contact ALA Promotions head office in Cebu City, Philippines with numbers +6332 2364611.
