MEXICO ALSO HAD GREAT TV RATINGS FOR CHAVEZ JR-RUBIO AND DONAIRE-VAZQUEZ TITLE FIGHTS

World Boxing Council president Don Jose Sulaiman is extremely pleased over the television ratings for the WBC middleweight title defense of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr against Marcon Antonio Rubio and the battle for the vacant WBO super bantamweight title won by Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire over Puerto Rico?s Wilfredo Vazquez Jr last February 4 at the Alamadome in San Antonio, Texas.
The double-header which was clearly fueled by the Chavez Jr ? ?Veneno? Rubio fight was viewed in Mexico by over 19 million fans according to the WBC which stated that the TV broadcast reached a 16 point rating mark.
The WBC noted that according to the figures released, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr?s impact on Mexican television improved from his last fight when he scored a 5th round TKO over Peter Manfredo Jr in November, 2011 which reached a rating mark of 15 points which translated into 18 million viewers.
In the Philippines where the Donaire-Vazquez Jr fight was telecast on ABS-CBN?s Channel 2 the fight did remarkable viewership numbers with a rating of 32.6 percent for Total Philippines according to Kantar Media-TNS National Household Ratings.
The highest ratings for the Top Rank Promotion titled ?Welcome To The Future? were registered in South Luzon with a phenomenal 49.7 percent followed by Mindanao with 44.6 percent and another hotbed of boxing, the Visayas, with a rating of 40.1 percent.
In Metro Manila the Donaire-Vazquez Jr title fight rated 29.2 percent and in Mega Manila 27.3 percent while the Suburbs turned in a rating of 24.8 percent.
The rest or the balance of Luzon reported a high 33.5 percent while North Luzon was at 28.7 percent and Central Luzon 21.6 percent.
