Introducing Filipino Boxing Prospects Adonis Cabalquinto and Jerwin Ancajas By Epifanio M. Almeda PhilBoxing.com Sat, 24 Dec 2011 Adonis Cabalquinto (Pictured above, left) Junior-welterweight Adonis "Unertaker" Cabalquinto improved his record to 10 wins, no loss and no draw with 8 KOs when he made Dante Paulino quit in his stool during the rest period after the 3rd round. Paulino pressed the action in the 1st round but was easy target to Cabalquinto's deftly executed combinations in the succeeding rounds. The Cabalquinto-Paulino fight was part of the card featuring Froilan Saludar versus Nelson Llanos in the main event at Imus, Cavite covered court last night, 23 December 2011. SGG Sports of international promoter Sammy Gello-ani and Sampson LLC, in coordination with Imus, Cavite Municipal Mayor Homer Saquilayan, presented the fight card for the entertainment of the Imus, Cavite boxing public. Cabalquinto's skills had merited him the privilege of being invited to Japan as a sparring partner of former junior lightweight champion Jorge Linares in the latter's preparation for his lightweight title fight against eventual WBC champion Antonio DeMarko. Cabalquinto was likewise made to briefly spar with Amir Khan recently in Baguio City. Cabalquinto's manager-trainer Joven H. Jimenez belied the report that Cabalquinto was sent packing as one of Khan's sparmates because he was not giving Khan a good work out. Jimenez says that the real reason Amir stopped sparring with Adonis is that Adonis was hurting Amir ("Nakasakitan si Amir kang Adonis"). In a recent interview, Adonis says his handlers are giving him the opportunity to fight for an international title early next year. Ancajas' effective punching and counter-punching left Quilaton hitting the air most of the time. The Ancajas-Quilaton bout was the supporting event to the Froilan Saludar-Nelson Llanos main event at Imus, Cavite covered court last night, 23 December 2011, in the card promoted by SGG Sports of international promoter Sammy Gello-ani and Sampson LLC in coordination with Imus, Cavite Municipal Mayor Homer Saquilayan. In a recent interview, Jerwin says he will work on the improvement of his stamina, for one, to realize his dream to someday fight for and possibly win a world boxing crown.
