Liza Elorde, wife of Johnny Elorde will be inducted as president of the Rotary Club of Manila 101 at the Sofitel Hotel Ballroom on Thursday with pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao as special guest and inducting officer.
The event will also showcase the ?Boxing Kontra Droga? fight card of Johnny Elorde Management International with veteran southpaw Dennis Laurente defending his Philippine welterweight title against another veteran Cris Alag.
The 34 year old Laurente has a record of 37-3-5 with 19 knockouts and is coming off a 6th round TKO over Dondon Sultan for the vacant welterweight title.
Allag who is 31 has a record of 8-20 with 4 knockouts and has lost 13 of his fights by knockout is coming off a 2nd round TKO loss to Rocky Marcial last May 28..
In a ten round bantamweight bout Monico Laurente who has a record of 19-7 with 4 knockouts takes on Prell Tupas who has a record of 7-10-4 with 1 knockout.
Also seeing action on the undercard will be the grandson of the late, great Gabriel ?Flash? Elorde, Juan Miguel Elorde who clashes in a super bantamweight bout with Saddam Eyo.
The undefeated Elorde has a record of 9-0 with 3 knockouts while his opponent has a record of 3-9 with 3 knockouts.
In his last fight the 24 year old Elorde won by a 1st round TKO over Richard Vasquez on March 5 this year while Eyo dropped an eight round unanimous decision to Richard Garcia on June 18.
