World champion Beibut Shumenov stood his ground in front of contender Danny ?The Bronx Bomber? Santiago and defended his WBA Light Heavyweight title by defeating the New York native by technical knockout in the ninth round of the main event of the July 29 broadcast of ?S?lo Boxeo Tecate.? Shumenov also made an impression on the judges at home, receiving 58% of all votes cast by boxing aficionados via text message and on Univision.com, earning him the boxer with the most car?cter title for the week and putting him in second place in the ?Cintur?n Tecate? competition for this quarter. ?Cintur?n Tecate? (Tecate Belt) is an award created to support the boxers who display the most car?cter in the ring during the ?S?lo Boxeo Tecate? broadcast each Friday night on TeleFutura. Tecate recognizes that viewers at home are the best judges and allows them to vote for their favorite boxer of the night by sending a text message to 55333 or visiting Univision.com, Uniclave: Solo Boxeo Tecate.
