Saludar TKOs Pumar in the 10th
By Epifanio M. Almeda PhilBoxing.com Sun, 07 Aug 2011

Froilan ?The Sniper? Saludar backed Gabriel Pumar to the ropes with a barrage of unanswered punches forcing referee Atty. Danrex Tapdasan to step in and stop the one sided fight in the 10th round of their scheduled 12-round fight at the Island Cove Hotel and Resort Park in Kawit, Cavite.
Saludar?s win added to his growing collection of belts the WBO Asia-Pacific flyweight championship. At the time of the stoppage, Pumar had his back against the ropes and his falling down to the canvas was prevented only by the referee?s timely and merciful intervention.
But Pumar proved to be a tough test for the unbeaten Saludar. The crowd had been used to and were expecting a quicker end of the fight. As the fight went to and passed the middle rounds, a fan commented, ?Hindi nya mapatumba? (He (Saludar) couldn?t knock him down). The veteran Pumar tried to make it an even fight but he was simply outgunned with Saludar delivering the more powerful shots. ?Pumar had his moments but these were not just enough to win rounds?, says referee Tapdasan.
The fight was presented by SGG Promotions headed by International Promoter Sammy Gello-ani, Sampson Boxing LLC, and the municipality of Imus, Cavite headed by mayor Homer Saquilayan.
The championship fight was supervised by WBO Asia-Pacific Vice President Leon Panoncillo.
