MOURNING IN BOXING; BUTCH LEWIS PASSED AWAY

Butch Lewis.
The World Boxing Council with deep sorrow wishes to inform fight fans of the passing away of American promoter and our good friend Butch Lewis. The World Boxing Council headed by itsnpresident Don Jose Sulaiman has declared a day of mourning in the world of our sport.
Butch, who died of a heart attack at 64, began his career as promoter together with Top Rank and subsequently represented several important fighters, among them brothers Michael and Leon Spinks, both world champions (Lt. Heavyweight and Heavyweight respectively) who up to now have continued to be his very close friend which eloquently speaks of their response to his honest guidance of their respective careers.
Lewis was also such a good friend of our President, Jose Sulaiman Chagnon, that he would play jokes on him, like the one he played recently, when he said the invitation to President Sulaiman?s 80th birthday party did not reach him in time, the party was held last May 31st, in Mexico City.
May God rest the soul of our dear friend and important boxing man!!
