ALL SET FOR NIETES-HIRALES WORLD TITLE FIGHT ON SEPT 10 By Jerome S. Galunan Jr. PhilBoxing.com Wed, 13 Jul 2011 BACOLOD CITY -- It?s all set for the Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes-Ramon Garcia Hirales World Boxing Organization (WBO) Junior Flyweight title fight on September 10, 2011 at the University of St. La Salle (USLS) here in Bacolod City. This was formally announced yesterday by ALA Promotions President and CEO Michael Aldeguer during the press conference held at the East View Hotel in Bacolod. Aldeguer cleared that the previous date posted in the boxrec.com, which was August 3, was unofficial. Meanwhile, the ALA official said that bringing Nietes? fight back in Bacolod is a way of thanking the people of Negros Occidental for the support they showed to their fellow Negrense last April. ?Despite the Panaad Festival celebration last April, we saw how the Negrenses expressed their support to Donnie during his fight at USLS,? Aldeguer uttered. ?This will also be the first time that a world champion (Hirales) will be coming to the challenger?s turf,? Aldeguer stressed. But, he explained that since Nietes has fought trice in Mexico and as a former WBO Minimumweight champion, Nietes gained the Hirales? promoter?s respect thus, given him that privilege to fight at home. On the other hand, when Nietes was asked how he weighs Hirales? capability, the Filipino fighter described the Mexican world champion to be tough and strong. ?He is a world champion. He would never be if he is not a good fighter. And this coming fight would be tough,? Nietes said. On the prediction of the match?s outcome, both Aldeguer and Nietes stressed that Hirales, being a world champion will strive to defend his crown over the Filipino challenger. ?I will just do my best to win the fight. Since June, I?ve been in rigid training to prepare for this fight,? Nietes said. ?We appeal to the Negrenses to support Donnie in his upcoming fight. This fight would probably be the biggest event in Bacolod, being a world title fight and to be aired worldwide,? said Aldeguer. For the undercard, ALA Promotion?s rising star Milan Melindo is already assured for the clash. However, the promoter is still working on the finality of the scheduled battle. ?We are also looking into having local boxers from Bacolod to fight in the undercard. Right now, we have Arthur Villanueva scheduled for the undercard,? Aldeguer said. Villanueva (17 wins 12KOs), is the reigning Philippine flyweight champion and fighting for the Top Prime Stable of Rev. Henry Guanzon. The 22-year-old Villanueva is now undergoing rigid training at the Top Prime Stable?s gym for the upcoming fight.
