'Don't Call it An Upset,' Says Team Molina
PhilBoxing.com Sun, 10 Jul 2011
"It won't be an upset when he wins. It'll be the better fighter finally getting his due," says DeCubas Presents President Luis DeCubas about Chicago junior middleweight "King" Carlos Molina (18-4-2, 6 KOs).
Molina weighed in at 151.8 lbs for his fight tonight with former welterweight champion Kermit Cintron at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, and televised live on SHOWTIME network (10 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast). Molina vs. Cintron will serve as the main televised supporting bout to the WBA lightweight championship main event between Brandon Rios and Urbano Antillon.
"He's in the shape of his life and ready for anything Cintron tries to throw at him," continued DeCubas.
Molina is riding a 12-fight undefeated streak, including a draw with red-hot Cuban Erislandy Lara and a stoppage over murderous punching Allan Conyers, both at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and on national TV.
"Carlos is way too slippery for Cintron to find," said Leon Margules, President of Warriors Boxing. "He's been quietly becoming one of the best junior middleweights in the world and tonight is his coming out party. In top shape, he is a nightmare for any fighter, even ones with terrific hand speed like Lara. A fighter like Cintron, who is boxing carefully and waiting to land a shot, doesn't stand a chance. Carlos is a throwback to the old days of fighters like Willie Pep who stood right in front of you and yet you couldn't touch him. That's what's going to happen tonight."
