WBE/USBC CONGRATULATES GAB; GO BRIAN!

PhilBoxing.com

After more than a year since our appoinment by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as members of the Games and Amusements Board tasked to do competent supervision and regulation in the conduct of all professional sports in the Philippines, our efforts are now gaining ground not only here in the country but all over the world.

GAB Chairman Eric R.Buhain has just relayed this message from the WBE to this writer which states: "First, in behalf of the Officers and Members of the World Boxing Empire and United States Boxing Council and the WBE/USBC Asia Pacific Boxing Association , I congratulate the Philippines to host WBC 2007 Convention, then to congratulate you as the Officer of WIBA Asia region, and to congratulate the GAB approval of women professional boxing in the Philippines. We would like to see Filipino boxing become stronger, more powerful, and more prestigious".

This letter sent to the office of Chairman Buhain via the email was signed by David Young of the WBE/USBC dated February 14,2006.

The WBE/USBC is a newly accredited international pro boxing sanctioning body by the GAB. It is being well-represented here in the country by its Asian Commissioner Dante Almario. In a sense, we are happy to realize that our series of innovations and the establishement of good working relationship with the various sectors of pro boxing communities here and abroad are now serving as a key towards the accomplishment of our mission in the agency. And that is, for the advancement of professional sports particularly boxing as an instrument for our nation's continued global recognition.

True indeed that the Philippines now enjoys a good and respectable reputation before the international community of sports. On our part, this Board is also extending its deep appreciation to these groups who have already seen the product of our valuable contribution for and in behalf of the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines.
...........................................................................................

Tomorrow here in the Philippines is a big day again for all of us Filipinos around the world. And the GAB joins the entire nation in praying and hoping for the victory of our very own "The Hawaiian Punch" Brian Viloria. We strongly believe he's gonna make it against Jose Antonio Aguirre of Mexico before a jampacked crowd as expected in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. This is the first title defense of Viloria of his WBC light Flyweight crown barely five (5) months after he won last September of 2005. The Hawaiian Punch possesses a professional record of 18 wins, 12 via KO's with no losses. On the other hand the Mexican Aguirre holds a pro record of 33 wins -20 KO's with 4 losses and 1 draw.

We are confident that Viloria will topple this proud and gutsy Mexican. He must win this fight not only for himself but for our country. In God's graces, the possible victory of Viloria after the victorious campaign of Manny Pacquiao, Jimrex Jaca, Boom Boom Bautista, Rodel Mayol, Z Gorres, Czar Amonsot (they have all defeated the Mexicans foes), Randy Suico and Malcolm Tunacao will pave the way to sending a strong signal to our Mexican counterparts and the whole world, that in boxing the Philippines is now the power to reckon with.

GO GO Brian !!!
