GORRES, AMONSOT FIGHTS ON 'MAIN EVENT' SUNDAY
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Fri, 10 Feb 2006
The highly-impressive performances of OPBF No.1 and WBO No. 4 Z "The Dream" Gorres and WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight champion Czar Amonsot against Mexican rivals last Feb. 3 at the Orleans Hotel will be telecast over the top-rated Viva Sports
weekly boxing show "The Main Event" on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. over RPN 9 sponsored by Tanduay, the No.1 Rhum.
Gorres, who is scheduled to battle former champion Waenpetch Chuwatana for the OPBF 115-lb title on March 18 in Mandaue City, got rave reviews from American boxing writers who were impressed with the flashy southpaw's skills and ring savvy. Gorres pounded out a lopsided ten round decision over
rugged Mexican toughie Jose Alfredo Tirado.
Amonsot, on the other hand, scored a hard-fought eight round decision in a bloody fight with another rugged Mexican Cristian Favela. The hard-hitting southpaw from Tagbilaran City will also be featured in the blockbuster "A Dream Comes True" March 18 card underneath the Gorres-Waenpetch battle.
