ANTONIO ESCALANTE AND MANUEL AVILA TO CO-HEADLINE "S?LO BOXEO TECATE" ON MARCH 25 IN FAIRFIELD, CALIF.

PhilBoxing.com

LOS ANGELES, March 17 - On Friday, March 25 the Sports Center in Fairfield, California will be host to a doubleheader featuring the return of popular contender Antonio Escalante as well as a bout featuring hometown hero Manuel "Tino" Avila that will headline the latest edition of TeleFutura's "S?lo Boxeo Tecate."

In the main event, hard-hitting Texan Escalante faces Mexico's Alejandro Perez in a ten round junior lightweight bout. The co-feature will see Fairfield, California's Avila risk his unbeaten record against Highland, California's Frank Gutierrez in a junior featherweight bout scheduled for six rounds.

Escalante vs. Perez headlines a night of world-class professional boxing that is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Don Chargin Productions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate and AT&T. Doors open at 6:00pm and the first bell rings at 7:00pm and the TeleFutura broadcast begins at 11:30pm ET / PT (10:30pm CT).

Fans at home can also be part of the action by participating in Cintur?n Tecate and voting for the fighter in the main event who displayed the most character in the ring by sending a text message to 55333. Voting will be open through the end of the weekend.

Tickets, priced at $40, $50 and $60, are available now for purchase at Paco's Restaurant by calling 530-669-7946.

The pride of El Paso, Texas, where he has fought four of his last five fights, Antonio Escalante (23-3, 15 KO's) is eager to get back in the title picture following his first loss in over three years which came at the hands of former World Champion Daniel Ponce De Leon last September. Fully rested and ready to once again show the form that saw him defeat the likes of Cornelius Lock, Edel "Cuate" Ruiz and Miguel "Mickey" Roman, the all-action 25-year-old expects 2011 to be a defining year in his career.

Michoacan, Mexico's Alejandro Perez (14-2-1, 9 KO's) has won two of his last three bouts, including a first round stoppage of Victor Martinez and a ninth round technical knockout of Adolfo "Terror" Landeros in which he avenged the first loss of his professional career. On March 25, he will battle a fighter in Escalante who is just as willing to go to war in the ring as he is, setting the stage for what should be an explosive encounter.

A former amateur star who earned 48 wins and a number three world ranking as a Junior Olympian, Manuel Avila (2-0,1 KO) took the next step in his career last November when he turned professional with a four round shut out victory over Alexis Hernandez at Club Nokia at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. In February, he fought for the first time in front of his hometown fans scoring his first knockout victory over Jose Garcia in front of a frenzied crowd at the Sports Center. Now it's time for him to step up the competition when he faces veteran southpaw Frank Gutierrez (2-8-2, 1 KO), a tough out for any hot prospect.

Tecate, cerveza con car?cter, is the largest beer brand to sponsor boxing matches in the U.S. Part of its commitment to make boxing accessible to consumers is the title sponsorship of "S?lo Boxeo Tecate," which creates an opportunity for local fans to witness some of the most exhilarating fights by today's up-and-coming prospects. Additionally, Tecate has been a primary supporter of Golden Boy Promotions' marquee events since 2007, and has launched a variety of initiatives to ensure consumers are part of the boxing experience, including boxer autograph signing sessions, commemorative cans, PPV mail-in rebate offers, and most recently the launch of a mobile museum "Tecate Museo de Boxeo," which showcases decades of the most memorable moments in the sport.
