PhilBoxing.com

As tickets for London 2012 Olympics go on sale for the first time today, boxers and coaches at the Ultrachem TKO Boxing Gym, in Canning Town, London showed their support for the Games, which are to take place just a short distance away in Stratford, via video interviews to WinkBall.com correspondents.

WinkBall.com correspondents Stephen Foorunsho and Zulfi Rahman visited the famous East London gym with the intention to undertake a video interview with female boxer Marianne ?Golden Girl? Marston, as part of their Olympic 2012 coverage, in collaboration with The Telegraph. However the collective enthusiasm and support of the Olympics shown by those at the gym lead to additional interviews being undertaken.

Marianne, who is co-sponsored by WinkBall.com and laser eye surgery specialists Optimax, was clearly pleased that the Olympics are to be held in London as she said, ?I think it?s a great thing for the country and for London. I think it?s a great thing for the kids in the city, hopefully there will be a lot more interest for sport and sporting events for everybody.?

Marianne then went on to talk about her excitement that Women?s Boxing will be showcased at the London 2012 Olympics, as well as the various aspects of preparing for competition.

Amongst those also interviewed were some exceptional former amateurs, now rising stars in the pro-ranks, such as 2008 Olympian Billy Joe Saunders who said ?I think it?s going to be good for the country, especially for our athletes who?ve got home advantage and they?ll get the crowd behind them up which?ll spur them on?

Another former top amateur to be interviewed was London based Dutch cruiserweight Mitchell Balker, who won the New York Golden Gloves as an amateur.

One of the biggest names on the domestic boxing scene Kevin Mitchell, who undertook a joint interview with his brother Vinny, said ?I think it?s a good thing, It?s a massive thing for England, huge for London that it?s held here.?

One of the Ultrachem TKO Boxing Gym young prospects, Lightweight ?Pretty? Ricky Boylan also gave an indepth interview as did London based Iraqi Heavyweight Ali Adams.

It?s wasn?t just the young boxers but also some former boxers turned coaches that were also quick to show their support for the 2012 London Olympics by giving interviews to the WinkBall correspondents.

Amongst these were former Commonwealth Light Welterweight Champion Mo Hussein, former Amateur star, now coach for the Sierra Leone Olympic squad, Tony Cesay, star boxer turned coach Mark Tibbs and World class coach Johnny Eames.
