US OUTFIT WANTS MORE OF Z, AMONSOT By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Tue, 07 Feb 2006 An American boxing outfit has just fallen head over heels with Z "The Dream" Gorres and Czar Amonsot, expressing that it is willing and ready to have the two fighters in their future cards following their big wins last Friday at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Las Vegas-based Tony Martin of Great Britain, in an e-mail sent to the two fighters' manager Tony Aldeguer, informed that he will be negotiating with Guilty Boxing president Nick Rattena next week to study the possibility of bringing back the two fighters. Martin, who spent many years in the Philippines before leaving for the US, had arranged Gorres' fight with Jose Alfredo Tirado and Amonsot's bout with Cristian Favela. "What a complete success and total se ll out the promotion was, with both of the boys performing at their very best," Martin told Aldeguer, while at the same time indicating that aside from Gorres and Amonsot, he will also include other fighters being mentioned by Aldeguer in future fights in the US. Gorres is fighting Thai Waenpetch Chuwatana for the OPBF superfly title on March 18 in Mandaue City, and after that, Martin hopes to book him again a fight in the United States "sometime in May" as Guilty people and the fans reportedly were clamoring for a second serving of the Gorres and Amonsot show. Martin also indicated that he has nothing but respect for world-renowed trainer Freddie Roach, with whom he had worked Gorres' and Amonsot's corner together with Filipino trainer Edito 'Ala' Villamor. "It was great working with Fredie Roach, we got on very well, he thanked myself and Edito for a job well done, and yes no problem t o work with him again," Martin said of the world's best trainer, who also calls the shot for Manny Pacquiao and Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista. Meanwhile, Gorres and Amonsot are scheduled to arrive in Manila early this morning on a PAL flight PR 107 from Vancouver by way of Las Vegas. The duo then head to Cebu on another PAL flight that will arrive at 8:30AM here today. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Salven L. Lagumbay. |
