PACQUIAO V MOSLEY: "TOO MUCH SUGAR IS BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH"

PhilBoxing.com

When Manny Pacquiao stepped into the ring to face ?The Golden Boy? in 2008, I knew Pacquiao would not only beat him, but also systematically break him down with punches, Oscar hadn?t seen in quite a while. I also wondered how Shane Mosley would have gone with the ?Pacman?.

All this considered, after watching him, look old against Miguel Cotto in New York, in 2007. I still thought he could give Manny, severe problems, if they ever should meet.

That was way back then, but my mindset is no different.

For me, this is a dangerous fight for Pacquiao. Mosley is a huge underdog going in, and not too many people are expecting him to perform well, let alone win the fight, and I can't understand why. Mosley is a fighter with a lot to gain, and really, not too much to lose, and with no one giving him a shot, at beating the pound for pound champion, all he has to do is prepare the best he can and show up on the night to go into battle. No pressure!!

With Mayweather being out of the spotlight for now, Pacquiao embraces, defends and enjoys the limelight, of being the best boxer on the planet. He also has to carry that around with him, everywhere he goes. Everybody wants him. Pacquiao is a living legend.

That?s pressure!!

Mosley [w46 [ 39 kos] losses 6. draw 0. has been in the sport of boxing since 1993, and then some, and he has fought them all. He has had a tremendous career thus far. At 39, he is definitely in his final years as a fighter, but if you ask him, he will tell you, he still has a lot of sugar to offer.

Pacquiao [ w52. [38 kos] L3. [ko2] D2.] is in the prime of his career, but does he still want to fight? Like Mosley, he has been fighting forever [1995] and he has made millions, along the way, especially in the last few years.

There is no question that Pacquiao will prepare his body to the best he can possibly be when he faces Mosley. He will train for Mosley in an 8 week training camp, but I?m hearing Mosley is already in preparations for the fight of his life.

Analysis.

Pacquiao. Fors.

Speed.

Fighting in his prime.

Power.

Combination punching.

Attacking style.

Southpaw. [ Mosley has not fought too many southpaws. [ Winky wright, Luis Collazo, Raul Marquez.]

Pacquiao Against.

Defence flaws. Open to the right hook, and uppercut.

Pacquiao drops his hands when backed up on the ropes.

Wild and can be off balance as he attacks.

Has been knocked out to the head and body.

Has he ever faced anyone like Mosley?

Mosley. Fors.

Strength.

Speed.

Tremendous chin. [ only been down in Vernon Forest fight.]

Tremendous finisher.

Power in both hands, and sustains power.

Big right hand. [I think it?s the key to him winning]

Experience.

Been fighting at welter since 1999. [ a couple of jumps to junior middle in career]

Big reach advantage. [big key to winning the fight.]

Belief in himself.

Mosley against.

Age 39. [will his legs go in the fight?]

Will he handle Pacquiao?s attacking southpaw style?

The Fight.

Going into this fight, there will be a lot of mutual respect, and each man will be feeling each other out, but I feel Mosley will try to establish his long jab, doubling up, then follow through with his big right hand. He still has big power, and he has to throw it. Watch out for the overhand right as the fight goes on. If he is quick enough, and it connects , it could change the fight in a second. Pacquiao will have to use all his southpaw speed, and punch, using angles, with a two fisted attack, to get past the jab, to frustrate Mosley. If he can, he can win the fight on points, busting Mosley up along the way. I don?t think he can get close enough without paying for it. As the fight goes on, Mosley will catch him coming in, to win by a TKO late.

It?s going to be a great fight for the fans, and just remember kids, too much sugar is bad for your health.
