SALUDAR CONTINUES WINNING STREAK! "BITING FIGHTER" STOPPED! PhilBoxing.com Thu, 23 Dec 2010 Sizzling hot undefeated fighter Froilan "The Sniper" Saludar successfully made a first defense of his WBO Asia Pacific Youth flyweight title with a very impressive second-round knockout over fellow prospect Jecker Buhawe last night in Imus, Cavite. The event, promoted by SGG Promotions and Sampson LLC, saw the 21-year-old Saludar improve his record to 10 wins, 1 draw with 7 KO's and lines him up for a possible WBO Youth world championship early next year. Saludar and Buhawe figured in a tough and competitive first round, before the Digos City-raised fighter knocked down Buhawe midway through the second round. This was followed by another big knockdown that prompted referee Danrex Tapdasan to immediately stop the fight. "I saw how Buhawe fell from the punch, and I observed his eyes, and I made a decision to not count and stop the fight right away," said Tapdasa, noting how powerful Saludar's punches were. WBO Asia Pacific chairman Leon Panoncillo, who was at ringside to supervise the fight, was equally awed by Saludar's talent. "I have seen something unique and something special that I have not seen for a long time with this kid. Keep your eyes on him, he should be your future world champion from the Philippines," said Panoncillo. The kid showed extra ordinary abilities that wowed me, I could not believe how confident and how he made it so easy against a very credible opponent that was ranked #2 in the Philippines and is highly rated in the OPBF, Buhawe registered a professional record of 10win-2 losses on his boxrec profile and was confirmed by GAB." Promoter Sammy Gello-ani, meanwhile had broached the idea of pitting Saludar against a Mexican or Thai foe for the world Youth title some early February. Meanwhile, Ivan Soriano bucked a bite by opponent Elbert "Tyson" Guardiario to win by TKO in the fourth of their scheduled six-rounder. Soriano's manager, Rajan Yraola, informed that Guardiario had bitten Soriano on the shoulder, prompting the latter to knock him out and avoid more bites.
