UNBEATEN SAUL ALVAREZ FINISHES YEAR ON DECEMBER 4 AGAINST FORMER WORLD CHAMPION LOVEMORE N'DOU IN VERACRUZ, MEXICO

PhilBoxing.com

VERACRUZ, MEXICO, November 12 - Without question, 2010 has been the "Year of Canelo," as unbeaten Mexican phenom Saul "Canelo" Alvarez emphatically announced his arrival as one of boxing's top young stars. The year isn't over yet, and on Saturday, December 4, Alvarez will close out the biggest 12 months of his career with a 12 round battle against former World Champion Lovemore "The Black Panther" N'dou at Estadio de Beisbol "Beto" Avila in Veracruz, Mexico.

The WBC Silver Super Welterweight Championship bout which is presented by Canelo Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions, will air live on HBO Latino in the United States and on Televisa in Mexico beginning at 11:30pm ET/10:30pm CT.

"December 4 will be a very special night for fight fans in Veracruz and around the world," said president of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar de la Hoya. "Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is coming to fight and support this beautiful city in Mexico in what will be a very important fight against Lovemore 'The Black Panther' N'dou that will be televised around the world including by Televisa in Mexico and by HBO Latino in the United States."

"I am looking forward to another great fight and will be prepared to use all of my boxing skills to beat the very experienced Lovemore N'dou on December 4," said Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. "I promise to bring home a victory for all the people of Veracruz who recently suffered great loses from a hurricane. On December 4, I will bring joy and satisfaction to the people that have suffered."

"This fight is an example of experience vs. youth," said N'dou. "Experience will prevail this time. I've watched a few of his fights and there's no doubt that he's got talent, but I just don't see how he can beat me with all the experience I have."

A vicious puncher with both hands who has compiled an amazing 34-0-1 (26 KO's) record despite only being 20 years old, five-year pro Saul "Canelo" Alvarez broke into the mainstream's consciousness in 2010 with a four-fight streak that saw him crush top-level competition in spectacular style. Starting in March with a third round knockout of 19-2 Brian Camechis, the Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico product went on to halt Jose Miguel Cotto in May and Luciano Cuello in July before becoming only the second man to knock out former World Champion Carlos "Tata" Baldomir in September. On December 4, he will try to become the first man to knock out granite-chinned Lovemore N'dou in a highly-anticipated battle of wills.

With over 17 years of experience in the professional fight game, Lovemore N'dou (48-11-2, 31 KO's) is one of boxing's most respected veterans, and at 39 years old, the Sydney, Australia resident is still going strong. He's unbeaten in his last three bouts, including wins over Phillip N'dou, unbeaten Bongani Mwelase and a memorable 12-round draw with Matthew Hatton. A former IBF junior welterweight champion who stopped Naoufel Ben Rabah for the belt in 2007, N'dou has also been in the ring with Miguel Cotto, Paulie "Magic Man" Malignaggi, Kermit Cintron and Sharmba Mitchell, making it evident that when he steps into the ring with Alvarez in December, he will not be surprised by anything that "Canelo" throws at him.
