New PABA Bantamweight champ Roli Gasca returns to Cebu

PhilBoxing.com

Newly crowned PABA Bantamweight Champion Roli Gasca of Cebu is set to return to the Philippines early Sunday morning.

The Cebuano prize fighter that hails from the southern town of Japitan, Barili and fighting out of the ALA Gym through ALA Promotions captured the first title of his young career in foreign soil beating Thai favorite Tabtimdaeng Na Rachawat via 6th round knock-out.

Gasca now sporting a W 15 (KO3) L 1 started the fight dictating the tempo with his crisp jabs and sweet movement landing his 1-2 combinations with relevant ease taking the opening round. The next round was no different with the Thai brawler having difficulty finding his range only being able to land punches when trying to bully the Filipino to the corner but Gasca managed to work his way out and landing solid combinations to the hometown boys mouth and jaw.

The tempo changed in the third and fourth with the festive Thai crowd coming to life inspiring Rachawat to push in pressuring Gasca with body shots that seemed to have taken its effect on the Filipino but that was the most the Thai could do.

At the start of the fifth, Gasca's free flowing game took over stunning his opponent with his beautiful combinations and tagging him late in the round with an overhand right that dazed the opponent but was saved as the round had expired.

The end came at the 6th round with Gasca baiting his opponent by playing the Thai's inside game and with the Filipino digging in deeper, he caught Rachawat with a sneaky left upper cut
sending the Thai champion whirling down the canvass. Rachawat got up on the eighth count and continued on but Gasca came in for the kill with an eight punch combination ending? Rachawat's reign of 21 title defenses with a well placed right hook to the jaw that knocked the lights out of the Thai.

The victory was even sweeter as the Buriram, Thailand crowd was so appreciative of Roli Gasca's win shouting his name, taking photos with him and shaking his hand as he and his Team went back to his locker room.

After the fight, the gracious Thai promoter Thanin Sombat told ALA Promotions Media and Public Relations Chad Canares that he totally was shocked with the resuts and he only hopes that for Gasca's first defense he and his fighters would be considered as opponents.

PABA Bantamweight Champion Roli Gasca together with his trainer Joseph Baldago and ALA Promotions Chad Canares is scheduled to arrive at the Mactan Cebu International Airport at 6:15 AM via Philippine Airlines PR 843. -PR
