Mariusz Wach Excited to Face Brown this Friday in Rhode Island PhilBoxing.com Wed, 10 Nov 2010 North Bergen, NJ - Unbeaten heavyweight boxer Mariusz "The Polish Giant" Wach will face experienced journeyman Galen "Bad Boy" Brown this Friday November 12 at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island. The six-round heavyweight bout will be a part of ?Homecoming King?, presented by Jimmy Burchfield?s Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc (CES) in association with DiBella Entertainment and Twin River . The 30-year-old Wach (22-0, 10 KO) of North Bergen, NJ by way of Krakow, Poland was scheduled to face Kevin Burnett on last week's Zab Judah vs. Lucas Matthysse undercard in Newark, NJ but was disappointed when his opponent never showed up to the weigh-in. In prime shape, Wach now turns his attentions to the 29-year-old Brown (33-14-1, 20 KO) of Saint Joseph, Missouri. "I'm very excited to fight again in America," says Wach, who is making his first appearance in the United States in two years. "We have been training very hard ever since I arrived and I want to show the people what I can do." Wach, who is surprisingly swift of hands and feet despite standing 6-foot-7 and weighing 260 pounds, is a veteran of 90 amateur fights, winning two gold medals at the Individual Polish Championships and a silver medal in the 2004 European Union Championships. Wach was also an alternate on the 2004 Polish Summer Olympics team that traveled to Athens, Greece. He has also trained alongside some of the best professionals in the world, serving as a sparring partner for former heavyweight champions Samuel Peter and Ruslan Chagaev. Wach now trains out of Global Boxing Gym in North Bergen, New Jersey under head trainer Piotr Wilczewski, who is also the Polish super-middleweight champion.
