PINOY PRIDE: THE FUTURE LOOMS FOR PAGARA PhilBoxing.com Thu, 21 Oct 2010 ![]() Filipino Light Welterweight prospect Jason Pagara will once again be testing himself in the ring against Thailand?s Sapapetch Sor Sakaorat in the under card of ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports boxing mega-event PINOY PRIDE on October 30, 2010 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in the Philippines. Known for his uncanny ability to read his opponents and throw power shots with penetrating accuracy, the young 18 year old Pagara have opened the eyes of not just the boxing fans but the boxing experts all over as well. This Cagayan de Oro native likewise has this certain aura about him that he showed in front of the 30,000 people in attendance last July in Bohol where he was dominated in the 1st round by a taller and bigger fighter from Korea Young Bin Kim but came back with all guts and fury to win the contest the following round inflicting perilous cuts on both eyes of the foreigner. Pagara was invited to train in the United states by a top boxing promotional outfit and was scheduled to leave mid this year but was denied a visa. He was set to train in Las Vagas at the Mayweather?s Gym together with Anthony Martin, trainer of ALA Gym stable mate Mark Jason Melligen who has trained with Martin in America for the past year. Tony Martin, who also acts as ALA Promotions Head for International Affairs is expected to arrive Cebu on the 21st of October 2010 to act as corner man for Melligen for his battle with Mexico?s knock-out specialist Bladimir Hernandez and at the same time will be scouting Jason Pagara for possible match-ups abroad. Jason Pagara?s handlers are lining him up for a regional championship in the coming year and again will try to bring his talents in the United States next year. It will be better off for the capable Pagara to train overseas where there are a great number of training and sparring partners compared to the limited heavier fighters of his weight class in the Philippines. Pagara is considered by some to be a boxer of the future. He can be the complete package. Size, skill and speed are what he possesses. Not to mention the power in both his hands. Success is imminent for Jason Pagara but only he himself can determine what his tomorrow will be. (PR) Top photo: Jason Pagara (L) in action against Decha Banglaugym. ![]() |
