TWO TIME WORLD CHAMP TO TEST BANAL

PhilBoxing.com

Luis Perez.
Former Two Time World Champion Luis Alberto Perez of Nicaragua has been penciled by ALA Promotions to give WBO Asia Pacific Bantamweight Champion AJ ?Bazooka? Banal of Cebu City, Philippines his most crucial test after his stigmatic loss to Rafael Concepcion of Panama two years ago.

Since that unforgettable and traumatic experience, the 20 year old Banal has bounced back racking up five straight wins knocking out four of his last five opponents.

The Bazooka from Ermita, Cebu is scheduled to bang with the experienced Two Time World Champion Luis Alberto Perez headlining PINOY PRIDE at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino on October 30, 2010.

The Managua, Nicaragua native Luis Alberto Perez sports an impressive record of W 26 (17 KO's) L 4 (KO 2), is 5 feet 5 inches tall, has a reach of 67" and is a southpaw like AJ Banal is.

Known for his solid fundamental game, Perez has a very impressive work rate that could overwhelm any boxer but he is more known for his toughness inside the ring.

The Nicaraguan warrior also boasts of a solid jab but has a tendency to get wild with his punches. His defense is a little suspect but he packs enough power to upset any of the big names in his division.

Perez held the IBF Super-Flyweight and Bantamweight?championship belts. He likewise owned the WBA Fedelatin Super-Flyweight and the WBA Fedecentro Super-flyweight titles.

"EL Demoledor" (Demolition Man) as Perez is known won his first world title by dethroning Felix Mechado of Vanezuela as the IBF World Super-Flyweight Champion via 12th round unanimous decision.
Perez successfully defended his IBF Super-Flyweight world title three times. He first defended it against Felix Mechado in a rematch. He then protected his title against legitimate names in Luis Bolano and Dimitri Kirilov of Russia before moving up the Bantamweight division fighting for the vacant IBF Bantamweight title and winning the title via 7th round TKO against Genaro Garcia.

On September 29, 2007, he was challenged by the US based fighter from Ghana Joseph Agbeko but lost his title when the doctor advised to stop the fight in the 7th round in favor of Agbeko.
Agbeko is the same fighter who gave Australian based Armenian Vic ?The Raging Bull? Darchinyan a good beating when Darchinyan tried to move up at the Bantamweight division.

The former world champ is fresh from a 2nd round KO win last May. A win against Banal would help him inch closer to his goals.

Team Perez is scheduled to arrive at the Mactan Cebu Intrnational Airport on Sunday October 24, 2010 via Philippine Airlines flight PR 0861.

Besides preparing himself and adjusting to the local weather, Luis Alberto Perez will be doing his share of promotions for the event. He is scheduled to guest in local radio and television shows during the event week.

PINOY PRIDE is a presentation brought to you by ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports and will be shown all over the world through ABS-CBN Channel 2 and at The Filipino Channel through ABS-CBN Global. (PR)
