UNBEATENS CHRIS MARTIN AND LUIS GRAJEDA HEADLINE "S?LO BOXEO TECATE" IN SEPARATE BOUTS

PhilBoxing.com

HIT TELEFUTURA BOXING SERIES RETURNS TO SAN DIEGO ON SEPTEMBER 10 AT THE FOUR POINTS SHERATON

LOS ANGELES, September 7 - On Friday, September 10, TeleFutura's "S?lo Boxeo Tecate" returns to Southern California with an action-packed doubleheader at the Four Points Sheraton in San Diego featuring unbeaten hometown hero Chris Martin and Mexican welterweight prospect Luis Grajeda in separate bouts.

In the main event scheduled for eight rounds in the junior featherweight division, Martin risks his undefeated record against experienced veteran Jose Luis Araiza. In the co-featured bout, Chihuahua's unbeaten Grajeda faces Fairfield, California's Alan Sanchez in an eight round welterweight clash.

The seven-bout night of world-class professional boxing is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Chargin Productions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate. Doors open at 6:00pm PT, the first bell rings at 7:00pm PT and the TeleFutura broadcast airs at 11:30pm ET/PT (10:30pm CT).

Tickets, priced starting at $25, are on sale now and available for purchase at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel Gift Store or by calling (858) 277-8888 or (619) 420-8866.

Known as the "SD Kid", it's no wonder that Chris Martin (19-0-2, 5 KO's) is one of the most popular fighters in his hometown. Winner of California state titles in the junior featherweight and featherweight divisions, Martin scored the biggest win of his career in August, when he issued unbeaten hot prospect Chris Avalos his first professional defeat. Now it's time for another step up in competition, this one against Jose Luis Araiza.

A hard-hitting native of Michoacan de Ocampo Michoacan, Mexico, 31-year-old Jose Luis "Tapitas" Araiza (32-2, 23 KO's) has only lost once since his pro debut in 1998, establishing him as one of the most promising contenders in the sport. A standout on the Mexican fight scene, Araiza has ended 15 of his bouts in three rounds or less and he would like nothing better than to spoil Martin's San Diego homecoming on September 10.

A two-time Mexican National Amateur Champion who also battled his way to the quarterfinals of the 2007 Pan Am Games, 23-year-old Luis Enrique Grajeda (10-0, 7 KO's) was always seen as a fighter with the perfect style for the pro game. He's certainly lived up to such talk thus far, as he's stopped seven of his ten opponents. In his most recent bout in June, he showed the ability to handle a seasoned veteran when he defeated Cristian Favela. He's back to entertain his growing fan base once again.

19-year-old Alan Sanchez (5-2, 2 KO's) has made plenty of fans in San Diego as well with it being the site of three of his seven pro bouts. In March, the Fairfield native made a huge statement to Southern California fight fans with his fifth round stoppage of 11-0-1 prospect Alberto Morales and he knows that a similar win over Grajeda will continue his progress in what looks to be a promising career.

Tecate, cerveza con car?cter, is the largest beer brand to sponsor boxing matches in the U.S. Part of its commitment to make boxing accessible to consumers is the title sponsorship of "S?lo Boxeo Tecate," which creates an opportunity for local fans to witness some of the most exhilarating fights by today's up-and-coming prospects. Additionally, Tecate has been a primary supporter of Golden Boy Promotions' marquee events since 2007, and has launched a variety of initiatives to ensure consumers are part of the boxing experience, including boxer autograph signing sessions, commemorative cans, PPV mail-in rebate offers, and most recently the launch of a mobile museum "Tecate Museo de Boxeo", which showcases decades of the most memorable moments in the sport.
