KAMEDA BROTHERS WIN, FILIPINO ALCOY LOSES By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 26 Jul 2010 ![]() ![]() The colorful but sometimes troublesome Kameda brothers, Daiki and Koki, have won in a fight card which also featured Filipino light flyweight Albert Alcoy who lost by a 9th round TKO in a scheduled ten round bout against Kazuto Ioka of Japan. The undefeated 21 year old Ioka improved to 5-0 with 3 knockouts while the 26 year old Alcoy dropped to 8-5-3 with 2 knockouts. The elder Kameda, Koki, who is 23 years old scored a 4th round knockout over former world title challenger Cecilio ?Boga? Santos who has lost six of his last seven fights by knockout raising serious questions on why he continues to fight and be matched against talented, world-rated opponents. Santos was knocked out also in the 4th round by the Philippines AJ ?Bazooka? Banal who is ranked No. 4 by the WBC/IBF and WBO last January 14, 2010 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu. The southpaw Kameda who lost his WBC flyweight title by a majority decision to Thai veteran Pongsaklek Wonjongkam in Tokyo on March 27, 2010 improved his record to 23-1 with 15 knockouts with the win. Younger brother, 21 year old Daiki Kameda won a unanimous ten round decision over 32 year old Rosendo Vega of Mexico who was coming off a 1st round KO loss to Oscar Ibarra in a clash f or the vacant WBC Latino title on May 19, 2010. With the win Kameda who lost his WBA flyweight title to Thailand?s Denkaosan Kaovichit by a majority decision last October 6, 2009 in Osaka and regained the crown with a twelve round unanimous decision on February 7, 2010 improved his record to 17-2 with 11 knockouts.
