PACQUIAO FIGHT PROPOSALS BEING PREPARED BY ARUM

PhilBoxing.com

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says he will prepare specific fight proposals for pound-for-pound king and ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao to study and decide on ?what he wants to do.?

Arum told insidesports.ph, Standard Today and Viva Sports that he will ?put the proposal together by Wednesday and give it to Manny and he will choose what he wants to do.?

The astute Arum regarded as the leading boxing promoter in the world was meeting with Pacquiao?s adviser Michael Koncz on Monday night and discussing the options available after Floyd Mayweather Jr?s handlers claimed, to the chagrin of Arum and HBO president Ross Greenburg and others who were aware that negotiations were going, that there were no negotiations at all between the two camps.

In an official statement Mayweather?s adviser Leonard Ellerbe claimed that Al Haymon (another Mayweather adviser) Richard Schaefer (Golden Boy Promotions CEO) and myself speak to each other on a regular basis and the truth is no negotiations have ever taken place nor was there ever a deal agreed upon by Team Mayweather or Floyd Mayweather to fight Manny Pacquiao on November 13. Either Ross Greenburg or Bob Arum is not telling the truth but history tells us who is lying.?

Arum responded by saying ?these people have lost their minds. The statement that they put out that there were no negotiations. These people are crazy. Ross Greenburg called me up. It's like the mad hatter. The height of craziness.?

Oscar De La Hoya himself announced on Spanish television several weeks ago that the fight was almost done and Schaefer himself cited a so-called ?gag order? which he and Arum were bound to abide by even as Mayweather himself indicated he wanted to take a break from boxing which all pointed to the fact that some form of negotiations were going on.

Meantime, Arum and Koncz both named Antonio Margarito and WBO light middleweight champion Miguel Cotto as possible opponents for Pacquiao with both men saying they would agree to face the Filipino southpaw who holds seven titles in seven different weight divisions.

While there has been a lot of discussions over the desire of the Royal Family of the United ASrab Emirates to stage the next Pacquiao fight in Abu Dhabi, Arum said ?it would be wonderful if its real? indicating that he had some doubts about whether it would push through in Abu Dhabi.

He said he and Koncz met with an individual ?who is somehow connected (with the Emirati Royal Family) and we are waiting to hear back from him.?

Both Arum and Koncz informed us earlier that there was a lot of interest in staging a Pacquiao-Margarito fight in Mexico and that they had received a very good offer from Monterey.

Should Pacquiao battle Margarito it would be for the vacant WBC light middleweight or super welterweight title at 154 pounds.
