Fight fans will at long last get a chance to see what may well be voted Japan?s ?Fight of the Year? between Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation flyweight champion Rocky Fuentes and Japan?s Shigetaka Ikehara who is world-rated.
ALA Promotions informed us that the action-packed OPBF title fight will be telecast on the cable sports channel, Solar Sports as well as Solar TV on Channel 9.
The Fuentes ? Ikehara war will be telecast on Solar TV on July 17 at 8:00 p.m. and Solar Sports on July 20 at 7:00 p.m. with a replay on Solar Sports on July 22 at 2:00 p.m.
The hard-hitting Fuentes of the famed ALA Gym retained his title with an 11th round TKO over the aggressive and power-punching world-rated Japanese Ikehara at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.
Fuentes was hurt and groggy in rounds 4 and 5 but weathered the onslaught of the 28 year old who entered the ring with a record of 16 knockouts in 20 wins with only 1 loss and 2 draws and then battered the Japanese who quit in round eleven.
With the win Fuenetes who won the title with a majority decision over another Japanese Masafumi Okubo last March 9, 2010 improves to 26-6-2 with 16 knockouts.
