Sampson Boxing Inks Melinda ?La Maravilla? Cooper PhilBoxing.com Wed, 14 Jul 2010 (Las Vegas, NV.) -- Sampson Boxing LLC is proud to announce the signing of Melinda, ?La Maravilla? (The Marvel) Cooper to its talented family of boxers that currently includes WBO Jr. Middleweight, Costa Rica Champion Hanna Gabriel. Cooper, born on March 6, 1985, in Las Vegas Nevada; Daughter of Mexican national Paul Ramirez from the state of Guerrero and her mother Debra a native of Los Angeles, California, holds a record of 20 wins with 11 K.O.?s, continues her march towards an opportunity for a Super Bantamweight world title bout. James Pena, the first and only Trainer of Cooper, originally from El Paso, TX. has been with his orthodox fighter since 1996 as a result of chance meeting at the Nevada Partners gym in Las Vegas where she had her first taste of the sweet science against male boxers. Cooper?s unique style & aggression left an impression on Pena, which has laid the foundation for their unity, which later resulted in him becoming her legal guardian. Pena when asked about the newly forged association with Sampson Boxing was quoted as ?After considering many Boxing Promoters we chose Sampson because of his reputation of being well respected in the boxing industry and because of his honesty and fairness with fighters.? Moreover, he went on to say ?Lewkowicz is known for bringing Ferrari?s to his team of boxing professionals, not Honda?s.?
