BRAVEHEART vs AMERICAN BOXING ACADEMY TO FACE OFF IN WBO ORIENTAL FLYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT

PhilBoxing.com

Undefeated Braveheart boxer Jermie "the worm" Jabel (15-0-1 8Kos) will face the toughest test of his young career when he takes on American Boxing Academy's Fernando "TaTa" Lumacad (21-3-2 8Kos) in 12-round fight for the vacant WBO Oriental Flyweight title in M'lang S. Cotobato on Aug 1st.

The WBO Oriental title fight which is being presented by M'lang Mayor Lito Pinol and Magpet Mayor Efren Pinol as part of the M'lang foundational celebration, as well as to celebrate the victory of newly crowned WBC Silverbelt World champion Edrin "The Sting" Dapudong. Dapudong, the newest Filipino world champion, traveled to Mexico last month where he crushed #1 world rated Mexican Jesus "The Destroyer" Jimenez in only one round.

The Jabel vs Lumacad title fight is the co-main event under the WBO Oriental featherweight title tiff featuring Braveheart's Lorenzo "Thunderbolt" Villanueva. Villanueva the reigning WBO Oriental champion will be tested when he defends his belt against former WBC International super bantamweight champion Balweg "Davao Hitman" Bongoyan of Davao city. Bangoyan who at (15-1 8KOs) is coming off a 5th round KO loss in a world championship fight against WBC champion Toshiaki Nishioka on April 30th in Tokyo Japan.

Villanueva who has 16KOs in his 17 fights and is currently ranked #7 in the world by the WBO hopes to use this fight against the former world title challenger Bangoyan as a springboard to a world championship fight possibly as early next year.

The double WBO Oriental title card will be supported by several other up and coming Braveheart fighters, including Rolando Magbanua, 17-1, and Glen "the rock" Porras 23-2 all of whom are managed by former S. Cotobato Gov. Manny Pinol.

Pinol who is also the manager of the newly crowned world champion Edrin "The Sting" Dapudong as well as Villanueva, and Jabel will be pitting his fighters against their toughest opponenst to date. Jabel a virtual unknown outside of Mindanao will certainly see his toughest challenge when he takes on General Santos City Flyweight Fernando Lumacad.

Even though Lumacad, an internationaly experienced fighter who is managed by American Ken Smith, has lost 3 times, all were to current or former world champions. Lumacad first lost a close 12round decision in Bangkok Thailand to former WBC light flyweight champ Wandee Singwancha.

In his second loss Lumacad was embarassed by former 3 division world champion Jorge Arce. Lumacad after doing well in the first 2 rounds was knocked down in the 3rd round and failed to gain his feet before the count of ten. Lumacad's 3rd loss came in Mexico late last year against WBC world youth champion Juan "goofy" Montes in a lopsided unanimous decision. Lumacad's manager Ken Smith said. "This is really a cross roads fight for Fernando. His showing against Arce in the USA was a disaster for his career. But, if he can go into this Lions Den and win the WBO Oriental belt all that will be forgotten."
