UNBEATEN ERISLANDY LARA STEPS IN FOR VICENTE ESCOBEDO TO FACE WILLIAM CORREA ON JULY 9 EDITION OF "S?LO BOXEO TECATE"

DERRICK WILSON TAKES ON UNBEATEN RICKY LOPEZ IN
CO-FEATURE FROM DENVER

LOS ANGELES, July 7 - When one door closes, another opens, and after lightweight contender Vicente Escobedo was forced to withdraw from his bout against Raymundo Beltran due to viral infection, unbeaten Cuban standout Erislandy Lara eagerly agreed to step up to the plate at Denver's indoor Softball Country Pavilion on Friday, July 9 to battle Puerto Rico's William Correa in the 10 round main event of TeleFutura's "S?lo Boxeo Tecate."

In the co-featured bout of the evening, Denver's own Ricky Lopez looks to keep his unbeaten record intact when he takes on Florida standout Derrick Wilson in a six round junior featherweight bout.

Lara vs. Correa, which headlines a night of world-class boxing presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Frankie Sanchez Promotions, is sponsored by Cerveza Tecate. Doors open at 6:00pm MT, the first bell rings at 7:30pm MT (amateur fights start at 6:30 PM) and the TeleFutura broadcast begins at 12:00am ET / PT.

Tickets, priced at $20, $35, $50 and $75, are on sale now at the Softball Country Pavilion, Champions MMA and Fitness in Parker, Colorado; Knockouts Haircuts For Men in Centennial and Parker, Colorado; and by calling 303-378-5014. Tickets may also be purchased at Softball Country Pavilion the night of the event beginning at 3:00pm MT

A Three-Time National and 2005 World Champion as an amateur, Guantanamo, Cuba native Erislandy Lara (11-0, 6 KO's) was on his way to a Gold Medal in the 2008 Olympics before he defected and began chasing his dream of a world title in the pros. Now perfect in 11 fights, Lara has been more impressive than ever in 2010, stopping Grady Brewer and decisioning Danny Perez in his last two bouts. On July 9, he'll look to notch his third win of the year.

Yauco, Puerto Rico's William "Chino" Correa (8-3, 8 KO's) approaches his fight career with a simple philosophy: get him before he gets you. With each of his eight wins coming by knockout in three rounds or less, Correa is gets it done most of the time. This Friday, he looks for his ninth knockout win.

23-year old Ricky Lopez (7-0, 2 KO's) has made a lot of noise on the Southern California circuit, where he has won four in a row on Golden Boy Promotions' "Fight Night Club" cards. Now taking his show back to his hometown of Denver, Lopez plans on giving his local fans a night to remember on July 9.

Fort Myers, Florida's Derrick Wilson (6-1-2, 2 KO's) made a huge impact on the fight scene last July when he handed unbeaten Charles Huerta his first loss via a 59 second knockout. Since then, Wilson has continued to battle tough opposition, most recently scoring a four round decision win over Samuel Sanchez in May. On July 9, he hopes to send another hot prospect crashing to defeat.

Tecate, cerveza con car?cter, is the largest beer brand to sponsor boxing matches in the U.S. Part of its commitment to make boxing accessible to consumers is the title sponsorship of "S?lo Boxeo Tecate," which creates an opportunity for local fans to witness some of the most exhilarating fights by today's up-and-coming prospects. Additionally, Tecate has been a primary supporter of Golden Boy Promotions' marquee events since 2007, and has launched a variety of initiatives to ensure consumers are part of the boxing experience, including boxer autograph signing sessions, commemorative cans, PPV mail-in rebate offers, and most recently the launch of a mobile museum "Tecate Museo de Boxeo", which showcases decades of the most memorable moments in the sport.
