VITALI KLITSCHKO STOPS SOSNOWSKI IN ROUND TEN
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sun, 30 May 2010

Albert Sosnowski learned that bravery alone was not enough against a bearded giant like WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and although he fought gallantly, the overwhelming favorite Klitschko eventually prevailed with his size, reach and power proving too much for the game challenger from Poland.
A huge crowd at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany were amazed at the resiliency of Sosnowski who actually lasted ten rounds which was far longer than most boxing writers and fight fans had expected from Sosnowski who was 23 pounds lighter but 17 years younger than the 38 year old Klitschko.
Klitschko (40-2, 38 KO?s) was momentarily taken aback when Sosnowski (45-3-1, 27 KO?s) caught him with a solid right in round eight. BBC Sport said Sosnowski held his own until the 9th round when he needed the bell to save him from a furious Klitschko assault. The big Ukrainian quickly forced the issue and blasted Sosnowski with several hard punches and went after the challenger from the start of the tenth, determined to put an end to the fight which he did.
Klitschko pole-axed the gutsy Pole in round 10 with two thundering right hands and dropped Sosnowski who was down and out in his own corner as referee Jay Nady promptly waved it off. The official time was 2:20 of round ten.
In a post-fight interview BBC Sport quoted Klitschko as saying his next opponent is likely to be Britain?s WBA heavyweight champion David ?The Hayemaker? Haye or Ruslan Chagaev.
Klitschko said ?he (Sosnowski) did everything to win this fight but my experience got me through.?
The challenger said he was a bit disappointed ?because I thought I had a good chance of winning this fight. I am okay now, it was a hard punch but I was also quite tired and I just didn?t have the energy to get up.?
