MARGARITO WINS COMEBACK FIGHT
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 10 May 2010

While over 17,000 fight fans showed up at La Plaza de Toros Monumental in Aguascalientes, Mexico to watch the return of the ?Tijuana Tornado? Antonio Margarito, the Mexican didn?t rip his opponent Roberto Garcia apart despite dropping him in the first round.
There was a fair amount of bad blood between the two fighters as the action heated up in the middle rounds. Garcia kept telling Margarito that his punches had no effect and both men exchanged verbal jibes and at times Margarito was guilty of showboating.
Referee Guadalupe Garcia, in an unusual if not improper gesture, was seen on television kissing Margarito after the fight and earned the ire of both Garcia and trainer Eric Brown who yelled at him after the decision was announced ?you let him get away with murder? several times.
The referee appeared to turn a blind eye to any infractions by Margarito but came down hard on Garcia, deducting one point for a head-butt in round eight and for a low blow in the tenth.
Margarito caught Garcia with a looping left and then a right hook to score a knockdown in the opening round but the fighter who trained at Freddie Roach?s Wild Card Gym tried desperately to come back against a tiring Margarito in the championship rounds but couldn?t catch him with a solid shot as Margarito danced out of trouble.
All three judges has Margarito the winner, 99-89, 99-90 and 100-88 although the long layoff after his hand-wrap scandal and looked rusty while he didn?t seem to have any power in the later rounds.
Garcia said he wanted a rematch in the US.
In another upsetting and disrespectful gesture the crowd didn't remain silent during the singing of the American national anthem while some were heard booing.
