DANIEL "THE GOLDEN CHILD" JACOBS TO FACE JUAN ASTORGA ON KHAN-MALIGNAGGI UNDERCARD

PhilBoxing.com

LOS ANGELES/NEW YORK, May 5 - It's been nearly a year and a half since middleweight phenom Daniel "The Golden Child" Jacobs has performed in front of his hometown fans in New York City, but on Saturday, May 15, he will step into the ring at the Theater in Madison Square Garden to face Juan Astorga for the vacant NABF championship, to defend his NABO title and to show his supporters just how far he's come since his last NYC appearance.

Jacobs vs. Astorga will be featured on the undercard of the Amir "King" Khan vs. Paulie "Magic Man" Malignaggi WBA Super Lightweight World Championship which is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and DiBella Entertainment in association with Khan Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate. Khan vs. Malignaggi, along with Nate "The Galaxxy Warrior" Campbell vs. "Vicious" Victor Ortiz, the evening's co-featured bout, will be televised live on HBO's Boxing After Dark in the United States beginning at 9:45 pm ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast). HBO will also show highlights of the Jacobs vs. Astorga bout.

Tickets, priced at $555.00, $355.00, $255.00, $125.00 and $65.00, are on sale now and can be purchased at the Madison Square Garden box office, through Ticketmaster charge by phone and online at www.thegarden.com.

The fighting pride of Brooklyn, New York, 23-year-old Daniel Jacobs (19-0, 16 KO's) is rapidly closing in on graduation day in his pro career as he approaches his first world title shot. Unbeaten in 19 fights, "The Golden Child" is coming off a stellar string of victories over veterans Michael Walker, George Walton, Ishe Smith and Jose Miguel Berrio. On May 15, he returns home in the hopes of adding the NABF middleweight title belt to his trophy case.

Having fought Madison Square Garden just three months ago, aggressive battler Juan Astorga (14-4-1, 9 KO's) is no stranger to the atmosphere of a big fight, so don't expect him to be overwhelmed when he climbs through the ropes on May 15. Winner of two of his last three bouts, the 31-year-old from Brownfield, Texas, has every intention of giving Jacobs the fight of his life this May.

A full undercard will be announced shortly.
