RISING STAR FRANKIE GOMEZ AND 2008 OLYMPIC BRONZE MEDALIST DEONTAY WILDER COMPLETE APRIL 30 "SOLO BOXEO TECATE" UNDERCARD

PhilBoxing.com

LOS ANGELES, April 29 - On Friday, April 30, boxing's young guns will descend on Tropicana Las Vegas, as former U.S. amateur standout Frankie Gomez, 2008 U.S. Olympic Heavyweight Bronze Medalist Deontay Wilder and Puerto Rican powerhouses Juan Carlos Velasquez and Abner Cotto take to the ring for an exciting night of boxing which is headlined by the "Solo Boxeo Tecate" main event between former Three-Time World Champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero and Roberto Arrieta.

In the co-featured bout of the evening, East Los Angeles' Gomez meets Santa Ana's Ricardo Malfavonin a four round junior welterweight bout.

Robert Guerrero vs. Roberto Arrieta is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate. Doors open at 7:00pm, the first bell rings at 7:30pm and the TeleFutura broadcast begins at 11:30pm ET/PT.

Tickets, priced at $100, $50, and $35, are on sale now at the Tropicana Box Office, and by calling 702.739.3507. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.troplv.com, www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000.

18-year old Frankie Gomez (1-0, 1 KO) made a huge impact on the U.S. amateur boxing scene, winning 120 bouts against just 8 losses on his way to winning a host of titles, including the 2009 U.S. National Championship. Earlier this year, he announced his desire to turn professional and signed a promotional deal with Golden Boy Promotions. Now 1-0 as a professional, Gomez' speed, power and poise will serve him well as he chases after a world championship, but he will first have to get past upset minded Ricardo Malfavon (0-1) first.

Nine fighters have tried, and nine have failed to beat or even go the distance with 2008 U.S. Heavyweight Olympic Bronze Medalist Deontay Wilder (9-0, 9 KOs). In fact, following his first bout, which went into the second round, Wilder has not let a single opponent hear the bell for round two. Fresh off of a 33 second knockout rout of Ty Cobb on April 2, the Tuscaloosa, Alabama native returns in a six round fight against Las Vegas' Alvaro Morales (4-7-5).

Two of Puerto Rico's finest up and coming prospects will look to impress the Las Vegas crowd, when highly-touted Juan Carlos Velasquez (9-1, 5 KO's) of Guaynabo battles Glendale, Arizona's Ruben Guillen (5-6-3, 1 KO) in a four round featherweight bout, and Caguas' Abner Cotto (6-0, 4 KO's), the 22-year-old cousin of Miguel and Jose Cotto, faces Juan Sandoval (1-2, 1 KO) of San Bernardino in a four round lightweight fight.

In junior lightweight action, Las Vegas' own Toddy Junior (2-0) is back to take on Los Angeles' Rene Torres (0-1) in a four round contest.
