PhilBoxing.com

Sammy Gello-ani.

Mandaue City– Highly respected WBO Oriental Promoter of the Year Sammy Gello-ani of SGG Sports Promotions is set to present another batch of prospects by headlining former WBO Oriental Lightweight Champion Anthony “Rocky” Marcial versus Daryll Pucdol this Saturday at the city's plaza.

Making his professional debut, highly decorated former national team member Adonis Cabalquinto will go up against Alde Sosa in a six round tiff.

Other prospects are Sarangani province Jr. bantamweight John Mark Apolinario versus Jason Geda, hard hitting Jr. lightweight Jose Ocampo of Manila squaring off with tough as nails Jaime Barcelona of Cagayan de Oro.

In other attractive match-ups Manila based and undefeated Jr. featherweight prospect Rodney Rafols takes on Edison Serrano of Mandaue and mini flyweight prospect of Yraola Boxing Gym Edward Penerio will have his hands full against Andy Seneres.

Undefeated mini flyweight Ivan Soriano will battle with Jayme Bermeso of Cebu City , while making his professional debut, national team member Angelo Marcial brother of Rocky Marcial will go up against Edmar Tunacao of Talisay, Cebu .

To finally top off the card of prospects, flyweight Anthony Sabalde versus Jerpol Valero and Virgilio Silvano battles with Junilo Salvador in a four round bout.

Gello-ani stressed that "we had a heck of a run last year, lots of my boxers got the opportunity. We had three prize fighters fighting for world title fights, our last group of prospects who got opportunities at world title bids were very fortunate."

“We worked very hard in promoting these boxers and it took a lot of time and investment to get them where they are” Gello-ani was referring to 19 year old former world champion “Marvelous” Marvin Sonsona, highly ranked Ciso “Kid Terrible” Morales and current Interim Jr. flyweight World Champion Jhonreil Casimero who got opportunities which two of the three brought home world crowns in 2009.

Meanwhile, Interim WBO world champion Jhonreil Casimero of Ormoc, Philippines is now a mandatory challenger to Ivan Calderon's crown which is truly a dream come true for a fighter that once nobody cared about.

Gello-ani continued, “In our country we have a lot of prospects that is waiting for opportunities, they are diamond in the rough. I have proven and produced opportunities along with my USA partner Sampson Lewkowicz, boxers out of the Philippines provinces, especially from the Visayas Island and prospect around our nation want that opportunity and I am opening my door to them regardless where they are from. SGG-Sports Promotions is here to stay, Cebu is the boxing Mecca of the Philippines and I will always continue on building careers of fighters."

However, Gello-ani cautioned, the fighters need to realize that the efforts of what they are doing and the career handling of USA promoter Sampson Lewkowicz have always been making sure that the fighters have the right direction that will lead them to a better future, but they need to also give us their one-hundred percent.

"We believe that our prospects who have been given the opportunities are in the right hands, Sampson Boxing Promotions (Sampson Lewkowicz) is good in what it does with these fighters, there is a reason why he is called the “Picasso of Boxing” because he always delivers or make things happen and I am honored to be in the business with him."

Gello-ani further stressed that with Lewkowicz guidance, fighters will not only fight in nearby countries but will be given opportunities in America, Latin America or in Europe where the fighters can make more substantial money for them to live a comfortable life at the Philippines.

The show dubbed the “THE NEXT PROSPECTS” is proudly presented by SGG Sports Promotions this Saturday March 27, 2010 at the Mandaue Plaza, Philippines . First bout will start at 5PM. Gello-ani emphasized that it will be FREE to the public, make sure you come early to get first come first serve seating and watch your next prospects revealed. See you at the fights.
