BERNARDINO, MAGA TO HOLD SIMUL CHESS AT MERALCO PASIG PhilBoxing.com Thu, 04 Feb 2010 Marlon Bernardino. MANILA, PHILIPPINES---RP and United States Chess master Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr., and National Master Mirabeau Maga will hold simultaneous chess exhibition on Saturday, February 6, 9 am at the Lopez Bldg in Meralco head office in Pasig City. “It’s a big honor for me to do simultaneous chess exhibition in Meralco Chess Club,” said The Quezon City resident Bernardino, a radio commentator, sports writer and member of the coaching staff of La Salle Greenhills (LSGH) under the leadership of head coach International arbiter/ national master Erwin Carag. The one-day event, organized by Meralco chess club headed by its president Rolly Sol Cruz and backed up by Mon Pantaleon, James Macagba, Willy Baetiong, Bong Cachola being held to commemorate the 2nd death anniversary of Noel P. Olvida. “Our club has invited grade school and high school players from public schools such as Ramon Magsaysay HS, Rosario Elementary School, Taytay National HS, Aguinaldo HS, Pinaglabanan Elementary School, Philippine Science HS and EARIST. Please bring school ID and chess set.” said Sol Cruz. The event aims to give them a chance to hone their skills and an opportunity to play with a master. Meanwhile, the staging of the 24th edition of 1st Saturday Magnolia Non-Master Chess Tournament (1950 and below Club Rapid Rating) also fires off on Saturday, 10 am at the 4th floor Perez Buiding, Dona Soledad corner, Australia Street, Beter Living in Paranaque City. Guaranteed prizes will be given away to the winners; Champion P 3,000, 2nd place 2,000, 3rd place 1,000 with elegant trophies. Top category of Senior, Kiddy, Lady will get P 500 each and a gift pack of Magnolia products. All participants will also enjoy the application of RRCIS-Round by Round Cash Incentive Scheme 10-5. Tournament format shall apply the Seven (7) Round Swiss System and the rate of play will be Twenty Five(25) minutes per player to finish the game. Event is organized by Barangay Don Bosco Chess Club (BDBCC) headed by Club President Roland Roselada and Adviser Dr. Bong Perez. |
