PhilBoxing.com

HIT SERIES BEGINS TEN-EVENT SEASON WITH
"VICIOUS" VICTOR ORTIZ VS. HECTOR ALATORRE

LOS ANGELES, January 26 - In 2009, Golden Boy Promotions and AEG's "Fight Night Club" series captivated the boxing world with compelling matchups featuring the top young boxing talent from the Southern California area in a unique setting at LA LIVE's Club Nokia. Well, the fans have spoken and "Fight Night Club" is back for 2010, bigger and better than last year, and the ten-event season kicks off on Thursday, February 25.

In the main event of this season's first show, exciting top junior welterweight contender "Vicious" Victor Ortiz returns to fight in front of his Southern California fans in a ten round fight against ultra-tough Hector Alatorre of Tulare, California.

In the co-featured bout, rising star Luis Ramos Jr. will see action against an opponent to be announced in a six round lightweight contest.

"Fight Night Club" is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and AEG and is sponsored by DeWalt Tools, Budweiser and Vitamin Water. The series will return to Club Nokia on March 25, April 29, May 27, June 24, July 29, August 26, September 30, October 28 and November 18. Doors open at 6:00pm PT and the first bell rings at 7:00pm PT

One of boxing's brightest young stars, 22-year-old "Vicious" Victor Ortiz (25-2-1, 20 KO's) of Ventura, California packs the fans in with an exciting style and knockout power in both hands. In 2009, he further established himself on the world stage with stoppage victories over Mike Arnaoutis and Antonio Diaz, and a hard-fought battle in a Fight of The Year candidate against Marcos Maidana. In 2010, Ortiz plans on strapping a world title belt around his waist, but first he must get by the always tough and rugged Hector Alatorre on February 25.

Nicknamed "The Mongoose", Hector Alatorre (16-8, 5 KO's) is one of the toughest fighters around the 140 lb. division in the game today. A relentless competitor who has never been stopped in nearly seven years in the professional game, Alatorre has seen action against some of the sport's top fighters including Jeffrey Resto and former World Champion Carlos "Famoso" Hernandez who narrowly defeated him by majority and split decision respectively. The 28-year-old warrior is eager to prove himself and stamp his name on the boxing landscape on February 25 by defeating Ortiz in front of his hometown fans.

Already 13-0 as a professional, 21-year-old Luis Ramos Jr. (13-0, 7 KO's) has been unstoppable since his debut in 2007. Fresh off of a year that saw him win four times - three at Club Nokia - in 2009, the Santa Ana, California southpaw is back to fight in front of his ever-growing local fan base this February.

"Fight Night Club," is Golden Boy Promotions' and AEG's critically acclaimed live monthly boxing series, that presents boxing in a night club atmosphere, with a DJ, music, great food and a VIP room, as well as a unique setup where the ring is on Club Nokia's stage with standing room for fans in front of the ring, as well as great seating in the balcony. After the boxing action ends, fans are invited to stay to hear great music played by LA's hottest DJ's, dance and mingle with the fighters as the venue converts back into a night club.

An opponent for Ramos plus a stacked lineup of exciting undercard bouts will be announced shortly. For more information visit www.goldenboypromotions.com, www.fightnightclub.com and follow Golden Boy on Twitter at www.twitter.com/GoldenBoyBoxing.
