MAYOL’S QUEST FOR GLORY ON IBC 13 TONIGHT

Rodel Mayol, ”Batang Mandaue” or “Kid Rapido” and his quest for glory will be mirrored in a two-hour special to be telecast by Viva S ports over IBC 13 at 8:00 p.m. tonight (Friday).
It tells the story of Mayol from his first bout in his hometown of Mandaue City against Joseph Villasis in July 2000 to his second round TKO of heavily favored Edgar Sosa of Mexico in Chiapas, Mexico to capture the World Boxing Council light flyweight title in somewhat controversial fashion.
Fight fans will have a chance to go back in time and watch highlights of some of Mayol’s early fights, his OPBF title fights in Japan, his WBC title eliminator.
The special will also track Mayol’s managerial changes which ended on a high note when Filipino boxing hero Pacquiao took over his career from Japanese businessman Yasuo Matsuoka and his subsequent rise to become a world champion on his fifth attempt..
