THE MUCH-DEBATED WEIGHTY ISSUE WILL BE JUDGED COME FIGHT NIGHT!

PhilBoxing.com

Tungod, Inabanga, Bohol – Only a mere pound separated the two combatants during the official weigh-in of the highly anticipated showdown between defending welterweight champion “Boricuan Bomber” Miguel Angel Cotto (34-1-0, 27 KOs) and universally recognized pound for pound best fighter in the world Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao (49-3-2, 37 KOs), the night before they are set to trade mitts at the MGM Grand of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao looked as huge as ever, whereas his dance partner in Cotto looked as slim as he’s ever been. It would be very interesting how much the weight difference turns out to be come fight night. The Filipino firebomb could enter the ring probably around 5 to 7 pounds heavier than he did during the weigh-in, while Cotto could dramatically balloon twice or even thrice heavier than Pacquiao’s added poundage. This will definitely be an important factor that could very well determine the outcome of this epic showdown.

If Cotto weighs only a few pounds heavier than Pacquiao tomorrow, then this fight would be reminiscent of the Oscar De La Hoya fight when the Filipino even weighed heavier than the “Golden Boy”. Cotto took this fight on the premise that he is the bigger and stronger fighter. If he doesn’t take this size advantage to the fullest by weighing much heavier than Pacquiao as he enters the squared circle, then he’ll definitely lose the only advantage he’s had all along. It is therefore tantamount to a long and bloody night for the “Boricuan Bomber”. But if he does, this fight could turn out the way Nonito Donaire Jr. vs Rafael Concepcion did.
