RENOWNED CEBU PROMOTER SHOWS NO SIGN OF SLOWING DOWN

PhilBoxing.com

Cebu, Philippines – The man who is called 'Don King of the Philippines' for promoting so much programs and giving opportunities to all kinds of fighters is on high gear, raking-up multi activities for his talented stable of fighters these coming months.

If a promoter deserves a speeding ticket, Sammy Gello-ani would be the person that police officers would cite him for going over the speed limit.

In his most recent activity, Sammy Gello-ani provided the Philippines with another World Champion as a youthful teenager “Marvelous” Marvin Sonsona became the Philippines second youngest World Champion by capturing the World Boxing Organization super-flyweight title against veteran world champion Jose Carita Lopez on September 4, 2009 in Ontario, Canada.

Gello-ani explained in an interview today that everything is set for Marvin Sonsona to defend his title on November 21st, as he takes on WBO #15 Alejandro Hernandez of Mexico in the same venue where he won the title against Carita Lopez in Ontario, Canada.

Not to stop there, Gello-ani explained that he had encouraged Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing LLC to showcase another hot prospect, undefeated Ciso “Kid Terrible” Morales, which Canadian promoter Allan Trembley and Sampson Lewkowicz agreed upon. So the match was made between Ciso Morales vs. Miguel Angel Gonzalez Piedras in a ten round tiff, that will surely give Filipino / Canadian fans another bout to look forward to.

“The Canadian / Filipino fans are great there, the hospitality is just outstanding, we can’t wait to greet those people who had supported and believed on us. Marvin is about peaking right now in his training and he should be about one hundred-ten percent ready when the Team departs for Manila next week,” Gello-ani said.

“Unlike before, this time we have no visa problems, the Team feels great and very confident of Sonsona being victorious. What we are concerned of is the cold weather, we don’t know how Sonsona and Morales will react to the cold, but we will see,” Gello-ani added.

Meanwhile, Gello-ani had not stopped just yet, as he still needs to attend to Federico Catubay who is scheduled to fight on November 13th at Mandalay Bay House of Blues in Las Vegas, the day before Manny Pacquiao takes on Miguel Cotto at MGM Grand.

Federico Catubay, who recently disposed of highly world ranked Pramansak Phosawan in Cebu in a dramatic victory, has now an engagement with Juan Alberto Rosas, as everyone knows that Rosas was once the man that knocked-out WBC contender Omar Nino Romero who gave a great fight against Brian Viloria.

The Catubay-Rosas will be for the IBF Super flyweight eliminator headlining the November 13th card that will also feature rising Filipino prospect Mark Jason Mellegen and Z Gorres of Cebu, Philippines.

As Gello-ani’s second gear had shifted, he again announces a match for another of his fighters, Fernando Lumacad vs. Juan Jose Montes for the WBC YOUTH International super flyweight title at Oaxaca, Mexico on November 28th.

Gello-ani assured that this time Lumacad will perform, "I am sure he did not like what fight fans said about him after that bout with Arce, look out for him, I am sure he is out for vengence to show what he is made of. This surely will be Lumacad's second chance to redeem himself after that disappointing loss to Jorge Arce earlier this year," Gello-ani said.

To top off Gello-ani’s high speed run, another of his Youthful prospect Johnreil Casimero will get a chance at the WBO 108lb. Interim world crown on December 12th in Managua, Nicaragua against knock-out artist Cesar Canchila of Columbia.

Canchilla (28Wins-2Loss 22KO) is a former WBA Interim world light flyweight champion, who won the interim title in 2007 by unanimous decision against Giovanni Segura of Mexico, however, lost his title a year later in a rematch.

If Casimero prevails, Gello-ani will have his second world champion in a three an half months span on the same year. What a year it would be for Gello-Ani!

But wait a minute, breaking news... Ramie Laput, who is also promoted by SGG Sports Promotions, has now been confirmed that he has received a bout contract to defend his WBO Inter-continental Jr. featherweight title against WBO #4 Zsolt Bedak on December 4, 2009 at Austria.

Knowing that Juan Manuel Lopez is moving up in weight to fight Steven Luevano early next year, this could be a big chance for Ramie Laput to put himself in position for a vacant world title shot if Laput wins against WBO #3 contender Zsolt Bedak.

Way to go Gello-ani, you sure give opportunities for those fighters that deserve the opportunity. May God Bless them all, bring home the win and titles back to Philippines.
