TRAINERS AGRABIO AND DONAIRE SR: DEADLY COMBINATION PhilBoxing.com Sun, 23 Aug 2009 Quezon City, Philippines – In a conversation with Team Sonsona at their home today, Donaire and Agrabio informed that they are ready to go. “All the necessary training have been done here in the Philippines on sharpening the skills of Marvin, we are ready for the fight,” said Donaire Sr. Coach Jun Agrabio, the long time trainer of Marvin Sonsona, said that “we truly have prepared well for Carita Lopez, this one is for you Pilipinas. The movement of Sonsona has really developed into something else. The Sonsona you saw who last fought former world champion Wandee Singwangcha on May 28th in Cebu is a totally different fighter now. He did well against Singwangcha but with our intense training and with the expertise of my partner coach Nonito Donaire, Sr., we molded Marvin into a world class contender.” Agrabio added, “I don’t really have much word to say however, Marvin Sonsona is ready, he showed Coach Donaire, Sr. and I that he is at his peaking in training. You can see it in the gym, how his movement and speed flows when he is in tip top shape. Sonsona is ready for this title, only God knows if he is going to win or not.” Donaire, Sr. who was beside coach Agrabio during this interview, for his part said that "Marvin Sonsona really has tremendous skills and power for his weight division, like most Filipino fighters, they come and try to slug it out with their opponent, which is always a wrong strategy, most fighters don’t play it smart in the ring that’s why they end up getting knocked out." "To win fights you must be smart and strategize for a win however, during training camp, Marvin impressed me, he is really a thinking fighter in the ring. The lateral movement and head movement were great, he is really hard to hit," added Donaire. “During their sparring session with PABA champion Rey Migrenio, Magrino, who is also a good fighter, could not hit Marvin, I was truly amazed how elusive Marvin is. With the ability to move latterly effectively and throw bombs with both hands make this kid unique among other fighters I had trained, he is surely something to look forward to against Lopez, so we will see," said Donaire. All is a go, WBO Jr. Bantamweight Jose “Carita” Lopez is set to defend against our Young upstart Kid from GenSan, this will be his first defense at a neutral country, Ontario Canada on September 4th at the Casino Rama headlining the “Rumble in Rama IX”. There will be additional two co-main event attraction that will also feature former IBF Junior Featherweight world champion, “The Canadian Kid” Steve Molitor (29-1, 11 KO’s) who will be facing Argentine Sergio Escobar (11-8-1, 2 KO’s) and Canadian undefeated Heavyweight champion Greg “The Steel Pole” Kielsa (10-0, 5 KO’s) who will take on American Kevin Monty (17-6-1, 13 KO’s) on a 10round tiff.
