MILENDO WANTS TO FIGHT ROMAN GONZALEZ
PhilBoxing.com Mon, 16 Mar 2009
CEBU CITY--Fresh from his unanimous decision victory over ex-IBF minifly champ Muhammad Rachman on Saturday, ALA fighter Milan Milendo wasted no time in calling out WBA minifly boss Roman "El Chocolatito" Gonzalez of Nicaragua to a duel to see if the latter is indeed the knockout artist that he is touted to be.
Appearing on the popular radio show "Pinoy Boxing" over RMN-DyHP 612 on the dial less than 24 hours after his victory over Rachman, the self-effacing Milendo stated that a fight with Gonzalez is the type of fight he wants to see if he has it, and to check if Gonzalez truly has knockout power.
"I want to fight Roman Gonzalez. I want big fights from now on, the type that will really catapult me to the next level," said the undefeated Milendo, who was joined in the radio show by Z Gorres, Michael Domingo, James Bacon and trainers Edito Villamor and Rey Caitom.
Ranked no. 1 by the WBO, no. 4 by the WBA and no. 6 by the WBC, Milendo said he will immediately report back to the gym to keep himself in shape, and is not even planning on taking a short vacation to his hometown in Puerto, Cagayan de Oro City.
"I have other plans for my career," stated Milendo when asked if he was planning to rest for a while after the much-deserved win over Rachman.
